Dr. Stanley George Korenman, MD

Helped my life greatly. Diagnosed with prolactinoma back in 2016, prescribed exactly the right medicine. I was later able to have my child, thanks to this wonderful person who knew exactly how to help me with one visit and did so. He is an excellent doctor. Good bedside manner, and I have no complaints. Some of the reviews on here are completely unfair and are just pestering an old, old person about new ridiculous gender pronouns. Grow up. That is not what doctor reviews are for. This doctor saved me! ! ! Thank you so much, Dr. Korenman ! ! !

for a gender specialist, kind of bad with pronouns or respecting trans stuff. Made me feel weird sometimes. Although I found him nice at first, He wasn't up on any recent developments in medicine didn't really believe me when I talked to him about my symptoms and side effects, was stubborn about gatekeeping drugs I needed and ultimately I regret trying to work with him. avoid.

I came to see dr. Korenman for hormonal and possible pituitary problems. I was shocked how little he listened and immediately prescribed me antidepressants. He did order some blood tests. Next visit was even worse, when I said the antidepressants didn't help my symptoms. He immediately said that I am depressed! Period. Not even wanting to hear my horrible symptoms and elevated prolactin. In his opinion I was depressed, end of story.

Great, straightforward expert. Was very knowledgeable with my PCOS. I appreciated his frankness and his expertise.

As a transgender patient, I was appalled a his lack of knowledge and compassion, considering he was part of the gender health program. Did not listen. Was rude. Had no basic understanding of the drugs he was trying to prescribe me. AVOID

Dr. Korenman is efficient and friendly. He's helped me manage my diseases for many years and his knowledge has made my life much better. He is a full professor and Associate Dean for Medical Ethics so his schedule for seeing patients is only about 8 hours per week. I willing await an appointment with him.

If you are very sick, smart, young, single, attractive, and female you know how hard it is to find a doctor who will take you seriously. In surveys at thyroid cancer conferences 100% of young females with thyroid cancer are blown off and refused ultrasounds for years by multiple doctors even though they present their symptoms, bloodwork proof, and palpable tumors to their doctors. Ultrasounds are cheap and are not painful or dangerous. There is no reason other than agism and sexism that young women and girls suffer and die needlessly with arrogant "doctors" standing between them and a chance at an official diagnosis . For me, Dr. Korenman was the first one to listen and give me the tests I needed. I started asking doctors for a neck cancer biopsy in middle school. The tumors grew and multiplied. I got symptoms of a parathyroid adenoma too. As I got older, the internet and medical libraries became more accessible. I started asking for a thyroid ultrasound and a sestamibi scan. … I went to hundreds of doctors who all refused to give me a neck ultrasound or look at any of the evidence I presented on my symptoms. I always got some version of, "Don't read and worry so much. You are too pretty, fit, and young to be sick. You are just being a hypochondriac. Girls!" I had gone first gone to a thyroid cancer surgeon at UCLA specifically because their website advertises that they give everyone who goes to the doctor an ultrasound. The young arrogant doctor refused me one anyway. However, he referred me to Dr. Korenman. I told Dr. Korenman I thought I had a parathyroid adenoma (which I did) and thyroid cancer that had spread (which I did). I told him I wanted a sestamibi scan and an ultrasound to confirm what I suspected. To my shock after a 5 minute conversation and exam, he immediately ordered them plus another test. Had I had this appointment in middle or high school instead of in my early 30s my story would have ended differently. By the time I found Dr. Korenman and he diagnosed me, my cancer had spread too far to cure me. However, because I had a diagnosis it was easier to get my sister and mother to get tested. Their thyroid cancer was caught early enough to be cured. I was surprised to see the bad reviews on here. For me, Dr. Korenman was the one doctor who listened and who did the right thing.

Just now cleaning out some of my old files and ran across this doctor's business card. I saw him 20 years ago in LA for a consult. I am still not over my negative experience with him. So I googled him and while relieved to find it wasn't just me who found him to be a big jerk, horrified to find out he's still in practice! He was irresponsible and inappropriate during the physical exam. I recall him minimizing the seriousness of my diagnosis. Fortunately, my primary endocrinologist at the time was excellent and empathetic. Still kick myself for not speaking up right then and there in the exam room. Instead I went away embarrassed and angry. But I was young and scared at the time. Hope this empowers someone else.

Dr. Korenman is one of the worst doctors I have ever been to. He seems hard of hearing, did not seem to remember the information, i gave him, and lacks even a modicum of compassion and humanity.In addition, he is ridiculously expensive at close to $400.00 per visit.

Wait time is NEVER less than an hour no matter how early you make the appointment. He takes personal phone calls during your consultation, drinks coffee, and has no empathy. Too bad the HMO system forces us to endure this.
