Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Fealy is an active member of many professional organizations, including: American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American College of Sports Medicine, American Shoulder & Elbow Society, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for the past 15 years and has been involved in both clinical and laboratory research at HSS for over 25 years. Throughout his career, his passion for baseball drove his involvement with the Major League Baseball Players Association where he currently is the Orthopedic Surgery/Sports Medicine Consultant. In this role, Dr. Fealy is at the forefront of research and evaluation of shoulder and elbow pain in overhead athletes and corresponding treatments. Dr. Fealy also serves on the Research Committee and Medical Advisory Committee for Major League Baseball. He is one of the creators of the Major League Baseball PitchSmart initiative (www.pitchsmart.org) which is an ongoing collaborative effort to minimize overuse injuries in youth sports and baseball. He is also one of the coordinators of MLB�s ongoing prospective study to limit ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) tears needing reconstruction (Tommy John surgery). Dr. Fealy was raised on Long Island and is active as a team physician for both high school and semi-pro athletic teams on Long Island and throughout New York City. He enjoys the involvement in the community and the chance to follow his patients as they further their athletic careers.
