A caring doctor who inspires confidence and strength in his patients. He is always on your side and by your side on the cancer treatment road.

This doctor goes far above and beyond to care for his patients. He gives them every chance to beat cancer and does not give you a timeframe. He isn't very emotional, but he cares deeply for his patients' well being.

MY DAD WAS IN THE LATE STAGE OF LEUKEMIA AND HIS REGULAR ONCOLOGIST, DR TOWNSEND WAS NOT IN . DR SHLAER FILLED IN FOR THE VISIT. MY DAD ASKED DR SHLAER WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO FOR HIM AND THE DRS RESPONSE WAS " THE BEST THING WE CAN DO IS TAKE YOU OUT BACK AND SHOOT YOU." MY DAD WAS CRUSHED. FORTUNATELY FOR THE DRS SAKE, I WAS OUTSIDE PARKING THE CAR. HAD I HEARD THIS FROM THE DRS MOUTH, DR SHLAER WOULD BE DEAD. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE.

When an immediate family member is diagnosed with a serious medical condition that can be terminal. It helps to have a Doctor that is knowledgable and is willing to sit and talk with family members. I appreciated having Dr. Shlaer as my father's Oncologist during his bout with Cancer. Dr. Shlaer and his entire staff and caring people who make this difficult time easy for loved ones. No questions or concerns to Dr. Shlaer went unanswered. Hats off to Dr. Shlaer and his staff at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia
