Dr. Steven Chang, MD

My sister had her brain/craniotomy surgery with Dr.Chang and his Physician/Assistants at Stanford last year.

Please do not go see this man under any circumstances. He completely botched my mother's brain surgery, leaving her with total deafness in her ear, and permanent facial paralysis. He lied and said she had a brain tumor before the surgery, tried to convince her to commit insurance fraud, and hardly checked in on her after the surgery. Only after he completed the surgery did he tell us there was no tumor. It was an unnecessary operation that he should have never gone through with, and he showed absolutely no remorse for making her suffer, and causing her pain that she has to deal with every day for the rest of her life. He does not deserve to be trusted by anyone, lying to her every time she was in contact with him after the surgery. He changed up his story every time to try to cover himself. I left a very sincere and professional rating on his last google profile he had, which then made him feel the need to beg all his patients to leave good reviews in an attempt to hide mine, and now… suddenly he's starting fresh with this one. Steven Chang is a selfish coward who is willing to ruin lives for a buck. I do not wish the horror and tragedy that he has brought our entire family on anyone, so please, avoid him at all costs.

Dr.Steven D Chang is my Neurosurgeon at Stanford who helped me with MVD (Microvascular Decompression) surgery. I incurred Trigeminal Neuralgia, a result of a dental implant that was placed by a UCSF affiliated OS, over a decade ago. The doctors at UCSF, including UCSF's Neurosurgeon Dr.Edward Chang, misdiagnosed my pain as a "rare psychological case" that would never resolve. My pain kept getting progressively worse over the yrs. Last yr, in horrific pain, I was finally referred to Stanford. Dr.Steven D Chang send me for a MRI at Stanford right away. My MRI results showed a compression against the Trigeminal nerve. I was diagnosed wit Trigeminal Neuralgia (a disorder of the 5th cranial nerve). The Trigeminal nerve has 3 branches (V1,V2,V3). Dr.Steven D Chang did my MVD. And also consulted with Stanford's Oral Surgeon on my behalf for my localized ATN pain at the dental implant side. Since the doctors at UCSF had refused to remove my dental implant for over a decade. Citing they saw no… medical, neurological, or dental reason for my pain. My dental implant was rock solid into my right jaw bone, close to the inferior alveolar nerve. And Stanford's OS, after consulting with Dr.Steven D Chang, w/a team of experts, practically had to dig out my dental implant out of my right jaw. For any medical/neurological problem that is as difficult to diagnose and treat as Trigeminal Neuralgia is. I strongly recommend. Please avoid the 110% clueless, quack doctors at UCSF altogether. And go to Stanford for care. Additional plus points for Stanford are. Stanford's billing department is straightforward. Whereas UCSF's billing department is an absolute nightmare with endless co-payments that resulted in 0 diagnosis and zero treatment options. Unlike UCSF, Stanford also has free parking. Stanford also has shuttles that take a patient from one non walkable building to another (at least non walkable for a patient in horrific pain).
