Dr. Steven Gregory Coyle, MD

First appointment ever: Tried to share info about my trip to emergency room with threatened miscarriage, but no one seemed concerned or to want that paperwork, did not tell me about bloodwork that needed to be done until my second OB appointment. Then I had a separate ultrasound appointment with another gruff "doctor": Took 50 seconds to get ultrasound, hear two beats of heart, did not explain what he was looking at. Second appt w OB: Dr. Gustavson could not hear heartbeat with handheld doppler, had to schedule another ultrasound 5 days later. Same "doctor" in ultrasound cannot find heartbeat and it is obvious fetus (10w1d) is not moving, but he can't explain and sends me to Dr. Coyle. Mind you, Dr. Coyle is in a different building down the street I have to drive to after seeing what appears to be my dead baby. After half an hour in the waiting room, Dr. Coyle tells me he is sorry. I obviously saw the ultrasound and am not an idiot, but no one actually tells me what happened. … Dr. Coyle says I will need a D&E, something they do not do at the clinic. I asked what that was and he literally said, "Well, its a D&E." So I had to google that. Then, the icing on the cake, they can ONLY refer me to UCLA...downtown LA...to do the procedure...and not for two weeks. Luckily I had another option, but THEY WERE NOT EVEN CORRECT ABOUT THE PROCEDURE I NEEDED. Since the fetus was not 12w, I only needed a D&C...still something they cannot do in the office for miscarriages. After contacting my insurance and seeing another doctor for that procedure (they were able to get me in the next day) I thought I was ready to move on. Two days later, the office called me with lab results and said I needed to take some medicine or the fetus would be at risk! I had to inform her I had already miscarried. Three WEEKS later, I got a call from the perinatologist that I had a referral in from Dr. Coyle, whom I had only seen the day my miscarriage was confirmed. Day after that, I got an appointment reminder for my prenatal appointment that they did not cancel. I am highly disappointed in this mess of an office. Their disorganization resulted in 1)me not discovering a problem early enough to try and do something to correct it. 2)the referral for the prenatal screening not reaching my insurance or the perinatologist until weeks after I had miscarried and well outside the screening window 3)undue extra pain in having to be reminded of where my pregnancy should have progressed weeks after it ended. Hot. Mess. Will not be returning.

I was really comfortable with this group of doctors. I had very good prenatal care in the office. Dr. Coyle checked on me often during my very long induction process and answered all my questions. I would recommend this group and would use their services again to deliver my next baby.

Over all, the doctors did not take my previous experiences with multiple miscarriages into account. None of the doctors had any bedside manner. Most of my phone calls were never returned by the doctors. And any returned calls were by rude nurses. We ended up with complications and NONE of the doctors in that practice showed up at the hospital when my husband and I lost this pregnancy, like they promised they would. I have NEVER met such carelessness or complete indifference to patient care like ive have experienced with this practice! SEEK OTHER MEDICAL CARE!!!
