Dr. Dowlen correctly diagnosed my husband as having normal pressure hydrocephalus after several neurologists had diagnosed him as having Parkinson's or even supra nuclear palsy. After shunt surgery, my husband gradually returned to normal (and I mean completely normal). I hate the wait times at Dr. Dowlen's office, but I take a book and try to be a patient patient because he is that good.

Dr Dowlen was extremely concerned about a slight increase in my low psa level, and decided to have it biopsied. Sure enough, I had an aggressive level 3 prostate cancer. He quickly referred me to a surgeon at Vanderbilt, and I am here 6 years later. Thanks Dr, you are my hero!

Dr. Dowlen is a WONDERFUL doctor. I have been a patient of his for several years now, and he has the most gentle and caring bedside manner. He truly is concerned about the health of his patients.I would HIGHLY recommend him as a family physician.

Dr.Dowlen is a very caring person.He is very thorough and follows through on what he says he will/can do for you.Too bad he doesn't have a better staff.I found the wait time for my primary appointment to be extremely long.I waited in the waiting room for an hour and a half the first time.The second visit was not as long a wait time.I will continue to see him and overlook his staff.

Its a shame that an excellent Physication like Dr. Dowlen is stuck in such a systematic and bureaucratic doctors office. Once you get past the lousy staff and the awful wait times, you will not be disappointed in the expertise that is provided by Dr. Dowlen, I explained to him my symptoms and he gave me a diagnostic on what he believed to be true and even without the test which is the only sure way to test for XXY he hit the hammer on the nail the first time. Its just a shame that an excellent educator and physician stuck in an office of incompetent, unethical workers, If I were he I would open my own practice, therefore their lack of ethics would not taint my own reputation
