Dr. Steven J. Goldfarb, MD

I have to go to the ER because he's not in the office for several days. I'm in severe pain, and his office doesn't even help.

My wife is a patient and despite my pleadings, will not fire this guy. He never acknowledged me at the initial appointment, the after surgery call was quick, and the only way he would answer my questions is with saying the hospital staff would go over discharge instructions with me. During the first Post op appointment, his staff put the new cast on a little loose which became irritating to her. When we had to return to have it checked (early) they removed it and put a second one on, but this time they put it on too tight as she looses blood flow and her toes purple if she stands or sits or has her foot in any position other than elevated, he never came to check their work either time to make sure it was good. There have been other issues from day 1 too, but this review is long enough as it is. Summary: this man treats patients like its a cattle farm; get 'em in, get'em out and go on to the next and doesn't seem to actually care enough to make sure everything is ok before you leave.

Being an active young person and a avid equestrian, my deteriorating knee pain brought my life to a complete halt. I had been through several surgeries and every injection known to man, and two other surgeons. After going through the hoops with the other surgeons they all told me my case was to complicated for them. Dr.G was the first doctor to be honest with me and educate me on my condition and most importantly my options. He spent a good half hour with me on my initial appointment and answered every question I had been asking the other surgeons for years and actually got answers. All of his answers were backed up with statistics, science and studies, not his opinions. He came to see me before and after my surgery which is something my other surgeons never did. He cracked a few jokes and actually had me laughing just a few hours after my total knee replacement. For the first time in my life I can walk with out pain. Overall I had a execellent experience and I am so glad I had the… surgery, I will never look back.

Dr Goldfarb gave me a very accurate diagnosis right away and prescibed the correct treatment. He is skilled and experienced. Follow up visits were scheduled for convenient times.

Condescending, unconcerned, and unhelpful: the three words I would use to describe "Dr." Goldfarb. I put doctor in quotations because any medical practitioner that will not listen to a patient is undeserving of the title of doctor. Every time I tried to tell him about my knee pain he would interrupt me, and then tell me either I was wrong or that it could not be true. Nothing better thaln being told you're an idiot and a liar, when all you wanted was some help.

I would like to preface my remarks by saying that I am a registered nurse with 43 years of experience taking care of the injured trauma patient a several large trauma centers throughout the mid-west. My 85 year old mother recently fell and fractured her hip. Fortunately it did not require surgery. She spent about 36 ours or so in the hospital before they sent her home. Unfortunately, my poor mother who is in legitimate pain has gotten caught up in the opioid crisis. Dr. Goldfarb refused to give her any pain medication on her follow-up visit telling her she needed to walk, walk and walk. Which she has been doing quite well. Dr. Goldfarb told my mother that by law he could not give her any pain medication. What is an 85 y.o. Women to do suffer because of the illegitimate folks that should not be given large amounts of opioates. All I can say is this that I hope his mother is never treated in the manner he has treated my mother. Also he needs to work on his bedside manner. In summary,… I would not recommend him to anyone and would not utilize his services unless her was the only orthopedist available.

Man needs to have a class for bedside manner we are paying I think he forgets we are people not just another bone job. He takes about 2 minutes talking to you then out the door ?? no eye contact whatsoever. Maybe he needs to be on the other side that being the one in need

He screwed up my hip replacement leaving my leg over 2 centimeters too long. Ignored extreme pain for two days until nurses complained. Still admitted no fault. After over a year still in pain. No repeat operation possible. This is a BAD surgeon. And a liar.

Was in need of total knee replacement in both legs. Left knee was far worse than my right, so I agreed to have just my left knee done. I've never known anyone that's has knee replacement, do was at the mercy of the doctor to steer me down the best path. That was my mistake. Just glad I didn't allow him to do both knees at the same time as he recommended... End result, severe infection resulting in my knee swelling bigger than my waist and so badly infected that I wasn't even coherent by day 5. This guy actually argued with my home health nurse that there was nothing wrong even after he sent him pictures... The nurse encouraged me to go back to the hospital that night to the er. The doctor then reluctantly agreed to reopen my knee the next morning. The hospital actually an infectious disease doctor to my case even though Goldfarb insisted there was no infection... His arrogance and rude behavior was beyond my comprehension. Even had I not ended up with a severe infection, his… plan was to keep me in the hospital for 4 days with no PT, transition to a wheel chair for 3 to 4 more days before transitioning to a walker. Since he used antiquated procedures such as a drain and staples, I wasn't able to even shower for over a week let alone do any real physical therapy. Not only was he an arrogant jerk, his while plan was just as flawed as his personality. Flash forward 3 years to today. I am 8 days after having a real doctor replace my right knee and I am already walking without as much as a cane. I was released the same day of surgery using a walker. Was in physical therapy 4 days later and down to using a cane on day 5. By day 7, I was able to flex my new knee to 111 degrees. It took me six months from surgery to bend my left knee thus far thanks to Goldfarb... I really didn't know how important researching a surgeon was until I didn't do my homework and suffered as a result. Never go with a doctor that still uses staples and verify their infection rates... Above all, stay away from this guy!!!

Botched surgery. Left me crippled for life. Denied anything went wrong. He was defensive, arrogant, seemed to be pleading for it to go away but the results are obvious. Lied. Contridicted himself. His record of the operation could have been written before as it reads like a model op. Still in pain after 6 months.
