Steven A Kaplan, MD

I went to see Dr. Kaplan because I had very severe pain in my groin, after a procedure I had with a different doctor. He seemingly made up his mind about what was happening to me within one minute of speaking to me. He said he would “examine me anyway,” but he already knew what was wrong because he had “written thousands of papers.” He quickly touched the area that was causing me pain, and said there was nothing wrong. I asked if I could have an x-ray done and he told me I didn’t need one, I just needed to find ways to relax. So I left his office, hopeful that the pain would subside if I just gave it a little more time. It has now been 4 months, and I’m still experiencing pain, forcing me to believe Dr. Kaplan’s diagnosis was rushed and careless, and that he basically dismissed me because I’m a lot younger than his average patient. I am looking for another urologist to give me a serious assessment. I cannot recommend Dr. Kaplan based on my experience.

If you have urological problems, this is the man to deal with. He has a great staff and he, himself, is a great doctor who always has a smile on his face. My major complaint is that he always acts busy and devotes little time to the psychological aspect of being sick (bedside manner).

Dr. Kaplan is a pleasure to deal with and an exceptional surgeon. He is at the top of his field and delivers on his promises.

I have been suffering from an incorrect diagnosis after bialateral ureteral re-implants for years. After diagnosed with vesico-ureteral reflux, I had been mis-diagnosed with a neurogenic bladder for years with no definitive neural deficit, as well as unresolved low back pain. Dr Kaplan was the first urologist that listened to my long sorted history, reviewed years of prior CAT scans, urolological testing and hospital records. Dr. Kaplan performed specific urodynamic analysis and cystoscopic tests that confirmed a voiding deficiency issue that had long been incorrectly diagnosed. Through a series of special purpose bladder retraining, I am now finally getting relief from long term hydroureter and urinary retention. As I only have one working kidney, it was imperative that I get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Dr Kaplan is extremely knowledgeable and I would recommend him to anyone that needs an experienced problem solver to properly diagnose and treat difficult as well as… everyday urological and neurological issues. His manner is calm and attentive and has done much to make me understand the root of this long term condition.

Dr. Kaplan is an excellent physician- knowledgeable, attentive, and great at following up after a visit. Office staff is pleasant and courteous.

Had seen multiple doctors for my bladder problem. Was referred to Dr. Kaplan who reviewed my records, examined me and was caring. HE LISTENED! He treated me and my life is so much better. Too often doctors don't listen but as a woman who felt helpless, Dr. Kaplan is my savior.

My father had a robotic prostatectomy for prostate cancer at Mt. Sinai...he had a terrible experience and was incontinent and impotent. his doctor there was uncaring and dismissive. we saw Dr. kaplan who had a great reputation. he was caring, spent lots of time with us and did the surgery to fix the problem. we can't thank him enough. God bless him. my father who is at a support center for prostate cancer has referred other men like him and they have also had great experiences with Dr. Kaplan. See Him!
