Dr. Steven James Laband

Dr. Laband is highly regarded and was referred to me by another physician. He is most knowledgeable and keeps up with research. I must say that he has been most patient with me. I'm terrified of visiting the gyn office and kept putting off the best course of action. Dr. Laband and assistant Pam are genuine, kind, down to earth and are always available to answer questions. I finally had my procedure and wish I would have a year ago. I've done all the research and you won't find the quality of care with excellent bedside manner elsewhere. Truly a top doc! Thank you Dr. Laband.

They don't make Dr's like Dr. Laband anymore. He's AMAZING. Very knowledgeable, warm, thorough and professional. He's been my Dr for 20 years and he's hands down the best Gyno in town.

This is what I love about Dr. Laband: - he treats you like a person, not just a way to make money, by taking time to answer questions and go over all different options - he stays up-to-date on gynecology research - other doctors respect him -- not just the anesthesiologists he works with, but he was also in Phoenix Magazine's Best Doctors list for 3 years - his office staff are the nicest people who are great at responding and working with you and insurance - he's a good surgeon Let me give background first: I had two emergency room visits, before I finally went to the Mayo Clinic and spent a lot of money (Mayo is out-of-network for my insurance) to finally find out that the root of my problem was a very large fibroid that was affecting my other organs. However, I could not afford to pay the out-of-network prices for gyn surgery at Mayo, so I had to do a lot of research to find a doctor that took my insurance and whom I trusted. First of all, Dr. Laband is very busy because… he's just so good. However, when I explained that I really needed to see him quickly and gave them copies of my medical reports, their office got me in within 2 weeks. In my first appointment, he spent 1.5 hours with me to explain all the options and do an exam. He was very gentle and gave me a list of options to consider. I did see another gyn who does robotic surgery because I wanted to consider that as a less-invasive procedure, but because I really trusted Dr. Laband's experience and how he stays up-to-date on gyn research, I ended up going back to him to get a hysterectomy. Based on his advice, we decided to try to shrink the fibroid through drugs, and his office worked very closely with me to find a way to get the meds since my insurance would not cover it. They went above and beyond in assisting me! Dr. Laband spent an hour to answer any questions in the pre-op appointment, called me the night before the surgery to answer any more questions and let me know what to expect, and came in early to talk to me before surgery. He made sure I recovered and gave a complete update to my family in the waiting room, even mentioning small minutiae like a small rash where the epidural was attached. He visited me in the hospital the next day and gave me a photo of my operation. It's been a week and I'm recovering very well. I've already recommended two other friends to see him!

Though Dr. Laband was currently booked out three months, he and his extremely efficient office staff found time to fit me into their busy schedule. Dr. Laband's bedside manner was beyond exceptional. I found him to the most thoughtful, compassionate and knowledgeable specialist I have ever met. He spent a good half hour discussing the issues that brought me in to see him, then another fifteen minutes examining me while continuing to ask detailed questions, and finally another half hour going over multiple treatment plans. I wasn't able to get in to see Dr. Laband right away as he was scheduled out over a month for new patient appointments, but I was seen quickly by his RN. She was amazing! Kind, gentle, thorough and eased any nervousness I might of had. They don't use those icky paper gowns, and make you feel comfortable the entire time. I highly reccomend this office.
