Dr. Steven Allen Norris, MD

I was referred to Dr. Norris by the VA. I was very impressed by Dr. Norris' knowledge of the condition that I suffer as well as his sensible approach to treatment. I'm very pleased.

I went to see this doctor in Dec. 2017. My wife and I were looking to find possibly a new course for treatment of my severe lumbar pain. We were there for an hour , of which 45 minutes were of him praising himself. His diagnosis for treatment was copper infused bracelets and vitamin B12. The only thing he was correct about was i had a lot of stress at work. Without my knowledge, he noted in my permanent medical file that I was abusing pain medication, argumentative, has Dimentia and Alzheimer Disease. Avoid this doctor at all costs.

Was first diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, given occipital nerve block with slight, temporary pain lessening, not gone. Was given topamax, told to refrain from salty foods and high nitrate foods. Also instructed to wear wrist braces on BOTH wrists for at least 6 months to help cure my neck and facial pain. 2nd visit, increased topamax (didn't tell me the possible side effects until the 3rd increase of topamax on the 3rd visit) Another Occ block, this time no relief. Instructed to continue planned treatment. 3rd visit was given EMG test. During which he repeatedly commented on how bad my results were. Even went as far as to say I have the nerve damage throughout my entire body, that of a "70 year old".... (I'm 35) Wasn't sure why though. Increased topamax to triple of what I initially started. Had severe side effects from the topmax so requested to stop. Still insists me to wear wrist braces every night and be on a restrictive diet. So if you have TN and full… body nerve damage, expect to wear wrist braces. He is a very unorthodox Dr in his discussion and methodology of neurology. I would almost go as far as to say he may be a fraud given his unusual Dx and course of treatment and his answers to medical questions, especially ones you already know the answer to and he doesn't. He's very interruptive, talks over you, doesn't let you fully describe things before he's lecturing you about the importance of wrist braces for carpal tunnel to treat one sided facial pain that started instantly out of no where one day.

So happy I found him and he cured my headaches! Weird, but incredibly smart and kind doctor.

Misdiagnosed- got it totally wrong. Thanks to USF Neurology I am being treated for the correct disease.

I had two appointments with Norris. Far and away, he was so strange, unreachable, unsympathetic, and after all is said, I wonder how he was admitted to and graduated from medical school. He is truly a character out of l930 movie horror stories.

Dr. Norris was the third neurologist I had been to see over a five year period to try to find a cause for severe neuropathy. No one had been able to figure it out, many medications had been tried with varying success, but I wanted a cure ! After a battery of tests, Dr. Norris would not give up, and did extensive research which finally led to the answer: Celiac Disease. I have now been on a very strict gluten-free diet and the most horrifying, debilitating symptoms mimicking MS and RA are gradually disappearing. It seems like a miracle and I am so grateful to have found Dr. Norris. I highly recommend him to anyone who has been baffled by neurological symptoms that leave doctors throwing their hands in the air and kicking you out of their office.

After going to 5 other doctors, I thought I was doomed to have headaches. But in one visit Dr. Norris cured me.
