Dr. Steven Gordon Wong, MD

My 33 year old family member - single father of two small children - was incorrectly diagnosed by Radiology as NOT having a dissecting aortic aneurysm. Dr. Stephen Wong was his physician and did not have enough intelligence to deduce that the aortic aneurysm seen on the CT scan was causing this young man's massive chest pain, low blood pressure, and vomiting. Even after a prolonged discussion with one of our family members who is a Registered Nurse who emphatically tried to point out that the patient's symptoms were indicating a dissecting aneurysm, he insisted that it was either septic shock or food poisoning! He then abruptly left. After hours of ignoring lab tests and clinical symptoms, a blood pressure of 60/40, and being put on cardiac drugs to try to keep his pressure up, he was never sent to surgery to repair the ruptured aorta. Dr. Wong returned seven hours later when a code blue was called. An ER doctor responded to the code, and looked at the patient and CT scan and… immediately recognized that he was in need of emergency surgery to repair the rupturing aorta. The ER physician was visibly upset that these symptoms were ignored and untreated for 12 hours. He challenged Dr. Wong, and his response was continued denial that anything serious was wrong with the patient and in a condescending manner told the RN family member "I'm still on the fence".Sadly it was too little too late and the patient passed away in an ambulance on the way to another hospital to have the surgery he clearly needed hours earlier. His children and the rest of our family mourn his passing each and every day. Five and a half years have passed but the pain in our hearts will forever remain. For the safety of you and your families, please NEVER use this physician.
