Dr. Stratos Christianakis, MD

This doctor is extremely unprofessional. I had to contact him because two of the on-call doctors never called me back over the weekend. This was Dr. Albert and Dr. Christianakis. I had to get a prescription for a pre-medication for scheduled infusion treatment as I get severe reactions. I never received a call from any doctor on call over the weekend. Dr. Stohl and Dr. Christianakis (neither of whom have ever met nor examined me), without asking for their medical opinion, then volunteered their medical opinion and let it be known that they did not approve. Think a woman who wants to have an abortion and a religious doctor who shames her and refuses to give her one. Without being asked about my medical treatment plan, which has been in place for years, Dr. Stohl and Dr. Christianakis made it known they did not agree with my treatment plan which I have had in place for years (so many years in fact you could have received a PhD and another master’s degree as well). Dr. Stohl did call me… but I then received a rude and curt email telling me I had a discussion with the on-call doctor (Dr. Christianakis) for over 20 minutes and was told the pre-medication was inappropriate (this medication has saved my life on more than one occasion and it is inappropriate?) and I could seek an additional opinion in a local ER (during the COVID crisis with no immune system... ok. He proceeded to tell me that the "The health risk of a COVID infection in an emergency room is far, far lower than the health risk of an excessive dose of (my pre-med). I have never had a problem with the pre-med. In fact, it has saved my life on more than one occasion. As far as him telling me, a high risk person who is immunocompromised should go to the ER to get a new prescription when I have a standing prescription, that 100% completely ridiculous. I never spoke with Dr. Christianakis. Then Dr. Christianakis stated he spoke with my home health agency which was ALSO not true. This was confirmed by my agency today. It seems lying is second nature to these doctors. At no point did I receive an apology for any of this. I called two emergency rooms and spoke with two different people working there about Dr. Stohl’s claims about the ER, COVID and the pre-med amounts. I told the individuals I spoke with at each ER about my situation and both individuals at both hospitals consulted with physicians about my situation. I was told to STAY AWAY from both ERs as not only did they 100% disagree with Dr. Stohl and Christianakis about the pre-medication issue (both physicians said the dosage was fine- they state it was completely appropriate) but they also said it was extremely dangerous for me to come into the ER even in an urgent situation. One person who assisted me was a charge nurse but both individuals told me to STAY AWAY as Dr. Stohler and Dr. Christianakis should have handled this! These physicians said the same thing. The other woman said she works in an area away from patients, more than 6 feet away and got COVID. She said half the staff at the ER has contracted COVID. I was told to not waste everyone's time, risk my health, and stay home as this is not an issue that can be addressed in the ER. I was told for medication issues such as this doctors SHOULD NOT be sending their patients to the ER- especially if they are high risk (immuno- compromised). I was told I would just be referred / sent back to my doctor to deal with the medication issue anyway so it would be a pointless trip to the ER and I would be exposed to all the people in the ER and COVID for no reason. It appears Dr. Stohl and Dr. Christianakis are not concerned with the well-being of USC patients - and during a pandemic no less! It appears they are just covering themselves and their behind. USC is supposed to be the best and that does not appear to be the case. Laziness ruled the weekend and when an on-call and the Chief always say "Go to the ER," you know you have a problem. When “Go to the ER” is a doctor’s standard response that is the epitome of laziness, neglect, and I have family in the medical profession and they ALWAYS have their pagers with them, always call their patients back or facetime the patients, and get off their behinds and go into the office to meet and treat patients even during COVID. These doctors exhibited pure laziness. I would not trust your care with Dr. Stohl or Dr. Christianakis as you will not be in good hands. Dr. Albert either. During the pandemic and COVID it could cost you your life or someone you love their life if you trust any of these doctors. I really like my doctor and I am hopeful we can resolve this situation.

Being referred to Dr. Christianakis by my doctor, I tried for 3 weeks to make an appointment. I was told that he required my medical history to be faxed to him for review, prior to him deciding if I should be approved as a patient under his care. After sending my medical history to the doctor I proceeded to wait. I called 7 times over a course of 3 weeks and still no response. I requested for an appointment both online and thru the Keck appointments. Not one single call as to status. After my last and final call (3 weeks later), they decided to tell me he felt that I needed to be seen by another doctor. It would have been nice to receive a call back sooner so that I can search for another doctor vs me calling so frequent. I think this was highly unprofessional and certainly gave me a bad impression of the doctor and staff.

An amazing doctor, who genuinely cares about his patients. Compassionate & vested in taking care of you & treats you with respect. So rare to find doctors like this now a days. I am so lucky & blessed to find such an amazing doctor. Gives me hope & has helped me tremendously.

I've started going to Dr. Christianakis for my Uveitis problem and I have found him to be an exceptionally good doctor. I've been to other doctors before regarding this problem and was treated as just another patient, but Dr. Christianakis seems to care for each one of his patients. Whenever I have any questions or concerns regarding my problem I send him an email, and believe it or not he always responds promptly with answers to any inquiry. I am used to, at times, not even getting a response from an email, so it is still amazing to me that he always responds and he responds quickly. But his prompt response to me is just a highlight of what a personable and good doctor he is and how he treats all of his patients. Whenever I go to him regarding my Uveitis problem I an confident that I am in good hands.

He is that rare doctor that will spend the time to really listen to you and take the time to search for the answers that are behind the cause of your most rare and unusual symptoms. Along with the test results he has the gifted skills to formulate a diagnosis of the disease that is really attacking your body. He diagnosed a rare condition I had that should NOT have occurred based on the statistics and my age, but he went that extra mile to get me the relief I so desperately needed. When he says he will get back to you or follow through with something it is not an empty promise. I am so fortunate to have met this fine doctor. He also now treats my husband.

I went to Dr, Christianakis for a second opinion. He thought outside of the box and worked with my current doctor for an accurate diagnosis. I was sent to a different specialist to rule out a rare disease and unfortunately that is what I did have. But he took the time to really listed to my symptoms and look through my testing to get to the root of it.
