Dr. Sukhjit Singh Chahal, MD

Dr. Chahal was recommended to me back on 2015. I had an umbilical hernia after the birth of my last child. I was on Medi-Cal at the time so I didn't feel like I had any place to be picky. My first and only pre-op appointment was rushed and I didn't feel like the procedure was thoroughly explained but again I didn't feel like I had a lot of options. The day of the surgery I went to Saint Agneswhere it took five nurses to insert an IV. Saw Dr. Chahal for maybe a minute before the took me back. I woke up from surgery and was in so much pain. Mind you I have had two c sections and this was way worse. Dr.C never came by to check on me, the hospital staff sprinted me out of there so fast I was terrible. When I was finally able to take off my dressings, I saw that Dr. Chahal had just about butchered me. What I thought was going to be a laparoscopic procedure was in fact an open procedure. I had a huge scar across my abdomen. I also had a huge puss filled blister right in the center of my… abdomen. I instantly called dr.chahal's office and was able to get I and see him. He told me I was fine that the blister was because my skin was thin and that he never does laparoscopic hernia repairs. (That's not what he said when I first saw him) he told me to follow up with my normal post OP appointment in a few days. The very next day I got a call from his office informing me that he had to leave the country on a personal matter. I was then referred to another surgeon in a different facility to oversee my post OP care. He took one look at my incision and said it was grotesque. While the blister eventually went away it took forever to heal. I still have pain in my abdomen. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. I would never reccomend anyone to see Dr. Chahal ever!!!

Dr. S Chahal, general surgeon in Fresno damaged my sister's laryngeal nerve during her thyroidectomy. She developed severe respiratory distress right after the surgery and had to be admitted to ICU. She then had to have a hole cut in her neck so she can breathe, a tracheostomy. More than a year later she still has the tracheostomy and her quality of life is zero. She is severely depressed because of that surgery performed by Dr. S. Chahal with no end in sight to this nightmare!
