Dr. Sumit Kumar Nanda, MD

I came into his office seen well with a single tear in my retina and he did 2 interventions and I never could see again. Talking to other physicians they told me that neither of those diagnoses merit those procedures and now I have a total retina detachment due to the interventions of this physician. If you have a retina detachment, and do not know where to go, please don't let this guy touch you. His surgical skills are very poor to say the least, now I have the rest of my life to "enjoy" a single eye vision, courtesy of doctor Nanda.

Dr Nanda is pleasant and greets you with a smile. He is genuinely concerned and is an excellent retina specialist. I highly recommend Dr Nanda.

The waiting is awful. Dr has no Bedside manners. Runs in and out. Very little conversation. Don’t know if I would recommend him

My husband suffered a detached retina several years ago and unfortunately was referred to Dr. Maxwell. We knew the percentages at the time of the first detachment that a detachment of his other eye was likely. Recognizing the symptoms this time, we were committed to not returning to Dr. Maxwell - horrible bed side manner, mediocre at best surgeon (look at his reviews) and found Dr. Nanda. He was an eye saver and his bed side manner and care were and continue to be the best of any doctor we have ever been to. I cannot thank Dr. Nanda and his staff enough for their caring and compassion and skill in saving my husband's sight!

I went to a opthomologist for an eye exam i was not having a oroblem....just a checkuo had been to optromists for a few years & was wearing one contact for close up sight. After my exam the opthomologists told me I had wrinkled retnias & was making an appointment to see a retnal specialist It only took 3 days to see Dr Nanda & I had heard he was very highly respected. Before I left the opthomologists office the Dr took my hand & said "Don't worry, you won't be blind" This surprized me& of course led me to think it was serious I saw Dr Nanda & he said you need surgury on both eyes.....we will do thr right first & when thst heals we will do the left. Beause of hid outstanding reputation I made my first mistake....I trusted him . 3 days later I had the surgery & went back 2 weeks later & had a detached retina. Second mistake, I didn't get second opinion or even Google the condition. I went in for emergency surgery that afternoon, went back to Dr Nanda the next am . He… checked my eye & I couldnt see. Went back a week later and he decided to give it a few months to rest. I then had my 3rd surgery. The next day I went in & while I was sitting in the chair & thr Dr was on his stool not facing me i asked if zi was going to loose my sight....he didn't even turn around and face me but said "Yes, but you kmew that anyway" I was stunned. He didn't even have the compassion to look me in the eye! He said that he had a real problrm seeing to operate because of the cataract in my eye,,,,said he almost removed it. So that surgery was unsuccessful He wanted to do another surgery in a month. I made an appointment with Dean McGee (Dr Nanda did start there) with a dr that when I showed him my records he said he wouldn't attempt to operate without removing the cataract. I had my 4th surgery & the Dr removed the catract & repaired the detached retina but I dont have eyesight in that eye because the nerves are not working. I wanr everyone to realize that you need 2nd opinions, read Dr's reviews. & Google your condition. The 2nd Dr said he would not have done surgery in the first place. Do not go to Dr Nanda. He is in the business of not taking a conservative approach. I could have waited until my eyes became worse before even considering surgery. So as for Dr Nanda "Run Forrest Run" & find a more qualified Dr that isn't in the surgery business to increase his profit. I have warned many people to realize retina surgery is not like lazer....you can loose your eyesight BE WISE & educated before you elect to do this & stay away from Dr Nanda.

Dr. Nanda cared for my mother and her retinal problems for many years with extreme kindness and concern. He kept her eyes in the very best possible shape after her retinal detatchment and was always gentle with her and made sure that her injections were not painful for her. She actually enjoyed her visits to his office. I wish every doctor was this accomplished and caring !

Dr. nanda is an amazing doctor he helped me threw the toughest time of my life. He gave me my life back and i'm greatly apprecative of that. Doc you rock.=))-Ali Wright

Dr. Nanda has been treating me for the last two years for diabetic retinopathy. He is exceptional! Although the wait in the waiting room can sometimes be long it is worth the wait for a Dr. that is committed to excellence. I appreciate Dr. Nanda more than my words could possibly express.
