Our child’s medical issue continues to be unresolved after the visit.

My son’s syndrome was not diagnosed at Lakewood. He had many symptoms however, repetitive motor tics, eye blinking and hyperactivity. A Dr friend who happens not to be a pediatrician provided his diagnosis; a teacher had voiced concerns over his repetitive throat sounds which disrupted the class often.

This Dr discontinued my child’s as needed med that had been issued by a different provider; my child had indicated on a sheet that he did not currently take the med daily. However, it was an as needed med and my child had misinterpreted the questionnaire. Communication was poor and the med was unavailable at the pharmacy when my child needed it. It would have been kind, if the provider had told us in advance that all oral meds had been discontinued during the on site appointment. In addition, the provider gave us the cold shoulder later after we complained to the office manager who appeared to be primarily concerned with justifying the office’s actions. These events were both insensitive and antagonistic toward a chronically ill patient and his grieving parent.

The information given during the routine check up was very similar to the information given by my child’s public school nurse. The school nurse was more thorough however bc she picked up on a potential medical issue that needed further work up. He also seemed really bored by my child’s comments so I think it was a waste of time for us to attend a routine physical without a specific reason.

He seemed not to have a good bedside manner with my teenager and he didn’t seem disinterested in her comments. We waited for over an hour to see him and we were disappointed that the office encounter was very brief and impersonal; he repeated the same medical information to us as he did the prior year, so there was nothing gained from going to the office. The clinic appears to have too many patients and we felt like just a number, actually.

Dr. Patel is a pediatrician for my daughter, Last year he found that Lead level was elevated for my daughter. He immediately suggest the steps to take care to reduce the lead level but after some month we found that levels were not increasing but not decreasing as well. Then he contacted the State agency to check the lead level source in our home and surrounding areas. Agency guys found that the spices we bought from our home country was the reason of elevated lead level. We immediately stop using those and now after few month her lead level came down to 5 which is a huge relief. We are grateful to Dr. Patel to go beyond and above to find out the root cause of Lead level to treat my daughter. Thanks a lot Nitin Jadon
