Dr. Susan Beris, MD

We love Dr. Beris! She has been the doctor of my three children since birth. My son whom has a severe medical condition loves her. He trusts her and will only see her. The other staff is excellent too. Dr. Beris holds you to task and some may not like that...we appreciate it. She's brilliant and we trust her opinion.

Dr. Beris is condescending and rude. I was chuckled at when I expressed a concern that I was having about my child. Dr. Beris is dismissive and does not take parents seriously. I gave her several chances but no more. Here office staff is also extremely rude. There are so many other great doctors and offices. Don't waste your time with this one.

Horrific experience as a first-time mom with this practice. During my pregnancy, they appeared supportive of nursing - but when my milk hadn't come in two days after my daughter was born, Dr Beris said I had to supplement with formula, or we'd end up in the ER with a â??failure to thriveâ?? diagnosis and it would be my fault â??for being stubborn.â?? For two weeks, they scheduled daily â??weight checkâ?? visits - despite my daily appointments with a Lactation Consultant (plus La Leche meetings and a weekly meeting with a second LC) and the fact I had a scale at home - and billed us hundreds of dollars for each visit. By the end of the second week, those visits stressed me out to the point that I burst into tears whenever I got near the office. The last straw was when they tried to schedule a surgery for my 12-day-old baby to remove the tiny bit of her umbilical cord that hadn't yet fallen off. Both my husband and I believe they seemed more concerned with hiking up insurance bills than… actually helping children stay healthy and/or supporting families. Also no option to choose your pediatrician - had to rotate among all the staff. Would never recommend them to anyone, particularly not a first-time mom.

its a money making mind set. Do not diagnose on first visit let ear,throat,cut fester so they come back for a second visit...who cares about the patient just get the money

I was extremely disappointed by Dr Beris and Southbury Pediatrics (fyi: directly affiliated with Danbury Hospital). On each visit, 4-5 receptionists and multiple nurses were on-hand, and I never saw more than two other patients. With a staff that large, no surprise that the main focus seemed to be on increasing billables. In a preliminary meeting, Dr Beris came across as direct and knowledgeable. (I'd heard that if your child had a serious illness, she's the doctor to see.) She also claimed to support breastfeeding ("If that's something that's important to you, we'll do everything we can to make that happen"). However, on the first visit with my 2-day-old daughter, Dr Beris tried to scare me into giving formula. They had us come back for weight checks every other day for two weeks (and charged for a full office visit each time) - not an easy prospect for a first-time mom on my own with a newborn.We changed pediatricians after two weeks of that stress, and have been much happier with… our new practice. (Daughter is doing great, btw - and I never gave her formula.)

Excellent pediatrician. Not afraid to recommend a specialist if needed. Listens to a parent's concerns, and is great with all of my children ranging from 6-16.

susan beris is great- yes she can be a little different may be precieved as gruff but kids love her - she is always great with them....wouldnt take them anywhere else!

Dr. Beris has been my children's doctor since before the first, fifteen years ago. We interviewed several pediatricians before choosing Dr. Beris. Her manner is straight forward, which may make some uncomfortable, but when my child is sick, I don't want to interrogate and drag information from the doctor, trying to imagine what pertinent question I haven't asked. She has always demonstrated that she is highly competent and investigates thoroughly. In spite of the growing number of children in our community over the years, her staffing has stayed ahead of the demand and care in her office is always readily accessible.

Best doctor I've ever met.
