Dr. Susan Stanton Douglas, MD

My nephew has been treating with Dr. Douglas for almost a year now, and I cannot even put into words how grateful we are for having her in our lives. Since we have began treating him for various problems and helping him work through a complicated past, my nephew has shown a complete turnaround and is now a much happier, more focused child, and very much of that is thanks to Dr. Douglas. She always takes the time to thoroughly explain everything that she is doing for his treatment, and takes detailed notes about everything we discuss. If we have any concerns or questions, they are always answered completely, and in ways that we can understand them. In the past, when I have treated with a psychiatrist, it has essentially been you do what you're told, and no feedback is really taken into account. With Dr. Douglas, that is definitely not the case - although sometimes our appointments do take a little longer than they would elsewhere, that is because she takes the time to really know… her patients, understand their background and their entire situation, and make healthcare decisions accordingly. I have never had any difficulty setting up an appointment, and she always returns my calls quickly. Not only does she interact well with me, but she keeps my 9 year old nephew involved as well, which is something that I definitely appreciate. Any time I come across another parent who thinks their child might be in need of help, or their child is having a difficult time with their current psychiatrist, I always make sure I recommend Dr. Douglas, because I have yet to find another doctor as trustworthy as she is.
