Dr. Tammer Yamany, MD

I spent many years avoiding BPH surgery, fearful of the consequences/problems that I had so meticulously read about over my search for a minimally invasive for my moderately enlarged prostate (120 gr). My symptoms were what I thought manageable (up 3-4 times/night) but I was still able to urinate. Fast forward to 12/2023 when I had an MRI as a precursor to seeing a Dr. for a PAE procedure (not Dr. Yamamy). I got a call from the Urologist immediately after the MRI while I was still in the waiting room saying that I had to go straight to the ER to get catheterized (which I’ve always dreaded to begin with). I was literally swimming in retained urine and I didn’t even know it. Further, I was just visiting New York as I live in Los Angeles. To cut to the chase, I ended up being referred to Dr. Yamany as the other procedure would not have worked for me. Dr. Yamany seemed just too young as the HoLEP procedure, which I was told was the best option, requires many surgeries to become competent.… But his confidence and easy demeanor put me at ease. Further, he has already done the procedure over 200 times as of this writing, and he was kind enough to fit me in just before Christmas (the following week). I would have had to wait 6 weeks or more for any other of the most well-known Drs. performing this procedure. I “took the plunge” and had it done by Dr.Yamany even though I was filled with anxiety prior to the surgery. Anyway, I worried needlessly. The outcome has been unbelievable. Three weeks post surgery and I couldn’t be happier. Dr. Yamany is technically incredibly competent. No pain, minimal bleeding, no hint of incontinence and peeing like a racehorse. His nurse practitioner is also incredibly caring and gentle. Moreover, after 4 weeks I can resume all activities. A long-winded way of saying I unequivocally recommend Dr.Yamany. I told him that I’m still shocked that he has so few reviews on these websites. I’m proud to be the first of what I am sure will many, many positive reviews for this surgeon. The procedure has come a long way in that there is no longer an overnight stay required as in the past because of the advances in the laser used and the technique in general. But advances aside, a skilled surgeon is behind every successful procedure and that’s why I would highly recommend Dr. Yamany!
