Dr. Tanneisha S Barlow, MD

My first appointment was pleasant, but this appointment was terrible. I don't know if Dr. Barlow was having a bad day, or if someone upset her before my appointment, but it was evident during my visit something was wrong. I really hate to say this, but she very rude, short and condescending. I've never felt like that during a healthcare appointment with my providers. There definitely was no "care" in this visit. I still have no clarity in what I should do (my reason for the visit). She made me feel as if I was bothering her and she was ready to go. I am a professional as well, and there are just some things you have to surpress/put aside in order to treat your customers/patients with respect, compassion and comprehensive care. I understand physicians are human and go through things as well. I said a prayer for her after I left.

She was very pleasant Doctor explained everything that was going and wanted to know if I had any concerns or question to ask.

I should have wrote this review MUCH sooner to warn others of the terrible experience I had with this so called "doctor." I apologize for not doing so.A couple years ago, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Barlow to get a checkup and to discuss some health issues I was having. I saw online, she only had about 5 or 6 years of experience in her field, but I went with her anyway because of all the good reviews she had at the time(which I noticed has changed in the past couple years.) From all my symptoms and researching I had done, it seemed like I may have had PCOS. Well, as soon as I even brought up the condition's name, she automatically cut me off. She said to me, "Have you ever been to medical school? No? Then you don't need to be trying to diagnose yourself. I'm a doctor so I know what I'm talking about." At this point I was pretty stunned that she was actually that rude. I then proceeded to try and tell her the symptoms I was having, thinking that maybe she would take this a… little more seriously. But no, she didn't. I only managed to get one symptom out of my mouth before she cut me off again. She said, "Did you ever think that maybe the access hair growth that you have may just be due to genetics, and that you're just hairy? Besides, most women with PCOS are very overweight. If anything, you could use a few extra pounds." After everything she had said to me, I was totally shocked and mortified. My husband, who was also sitting there in the room with us, looked just as stunned as I was. I decided to just keep my mouth shut after that and never return to that terrible place again. My experience was so bad after that and I was so humiliated, that I didn't even try to find another doctor.After doing more research on PCOS, I began taking some all natural vitamins that are suppose to help with the condition. And they did. I am now pregnant with our first child and the doctor I have found is amazing. He has over 40 years of ob gyn and prenatal experience and he really listens and cares about his patients. Also, he did diagnose me with PCOS. He said I do have most of the major symptoms of it, and no, it doesn't matter that I'm not overweight like most women with that condition. He was actually nice enough to say that I look great and I should consider myself very lucky. He also appreciated all the research I did on my condition and was impressed with how well the vitamins I took had worked for me. Unlike Dr. Barlow, who had scolded me like a child for doing any kind of reasearch. It turns out that I also have hypothyroidism, which he diagnosed me with and I'm currently on medication for. Now if only I could have seen the look on Dr. Barlow's face when my blood results came back from my visit with her. I bet she felt like a total idiot.In conclusion, Dr. Barlow is very rude, cocky, unprofessional, and is obviously not very knowledgeable to anything other than the basics. I would NOT recommend her to anyone I know, and I would hate to see anyone else be treated by her the way that I was.

Being pregnant is a joyous time for all. Well she was on-call the nights I went to the hospital and she WAS NOT HEARING ME! She drugged me up for 2 weeks and refused to induce me even after I was 39 weeks! No bedside manner and she made me frown upon the entire practice. Would not recommend!

When I requested information on surgery and long term benefits/disadvantages, I was told by Dr. Barlow she had no information in pamphlet form and there were too many variables to discuss. She seems only interested in the dollar value of larger surgery than surgery results that would benefit me as a patient.
