Dr. Tara Starr, MD

Most compassionate and expert care I have received in an eye doctor office. Dr Starr and her staff listen and take their time. I had severe pain from dry eyes for two decades and I wam finally managed well on a number of procedures and medication. She is truly the expert in this field.

The best thing about my visit was how I was treated by Dr. Starr. She is compassionate, patient, but quite down to business and professional. The problem with my eye was dealt with efficiency and accuracy. The wait was a bit long, but I was so well taken care of, I won't take any point off for that. The staff was also very understanding and accommodating. Very highly recommend her.

I had a cataract removed one week ago. I am already 20/20. Dr. Starr personally helped me understand the options and explained the process from preparation to the post operation care. She is my favorite doctor.

I was referred to Dr. Starr by my wife who had seen her before. She thought so highly of Dr. Starr that she brought my son for an eyelid cyst surgery to her. Then I was diagnosed as having a cataract and naturally went to her. I am a scientist and have colleagues who have seen Dr. Starr and had surgeries with fantastic results. She is very busy, but took a long time explaining the procedure and it's possible side effects. I felt at complete ease at the time of the surgery. I had a specialized implant to allow me to see near and distance. It worked like a charm. We often see non complimentary remarks on the Internet about professionals, but I must say that I felt obliged to write this though I do not surf the Internet for this purpose. Dr. Starr is a highly skilled surgeon with great bedside mannerism. I was very comfortable throughout the surgery that only took a few minutes. My second eye, it was so much easier. She told me I will not glasses about 80 % of the time.… I have not touched glasses since surgery and it has been several months. She will be my ophthalmologist for as long as she is in practice and as long as I live.

Amazing surgeon. She performed cataract surgery with multifocal implants and I see better than ever with no glasses. I play for San Francisco Symphony and love doing away with glasses. She is the kindest most gentle doctor I have had. Love her.

Very condescending, fake, and even rolled her eyes at the staff who is trying to support her...! Took Forever to get in for my appt, and then she spent hardly any real time with me. PLEASE go somewhere else - I wont be going back

I saw Dr. Tara Starr after my primary care doctor had already sent me to several specialists who could not diagnose the cause of my double vision and one even thought I was being too dramatic and became upset. I was truly seeing double and Dr. Starr patiently did many measurements for over an hour and a half and found the problem being in one special eye muscle. She then referred me to a university hospital and the specialist also confirmed Dr. Starr's diagnosis. I will be having surgery soon to correct this problem that has haunted me for nearly three years. It is her patience and her ability to listen and not blow a patient off that makes her such a special doctor. I cannot thank my primary care physician enough for referring me to Dr. Starr.

Great experience and glasses too

Very positive and timely visit. She is a refreshing change to some of the male competiotion. I used to see Dr. Scaott lee in Pinole and he was do derrogatory to women, I switched. Dr. starr treats patients and staff with respect and is very compassinate and competent.
