Dr. Themistocles Dassopoulos, MD

Dr. Dassopoulos is one of the finest GI specialists I’ve ever had. I first went to him after several specialists had given up on my Crohn’s disease. I was very sick. He started me on therapy I’d never heard of and i finally started going into remission. He’s kind and really cares about his patients. He’s the type who remembers who you are when you walk through the door.

My sister has been dealing with Crohn's for about a decade. Her diagnosis is very well documented. After contracting COVID in Dec 2020, she experienced an intense flare that lasted months, leading her to seek and IBS specialist. Detailed medical documentation was provided to Dr. Dassapoulus prior to her visit. However, from the get-go he insisted that my sister has ulcerative colitis (UC), which primarily impacts the large intestine. She referred to the medical documentation provided him, indicating the several organs/areas that Crohn's has impacted her in. He kept insisting she had UC, then changed the subject to her children. At the conclusion of the appointment, he offered no action plan and instead gave her pamphlets to take with her.

I was hopeful that my appointment would be a positive one, but that was not the case. I arrived 8 minutes early and had completed my paperwork the night before. I was not seen for 1 hour 24 minutes. His staff said "oh he always runs late...he's just very thorough". While I did appreciate that I was not rushed, I felt grilled the entire appointment. Very brash attitude. Told me everything I had been told in the past or had done to me was wrong. I didn't feel like he tried to see my case in a new way and instead just lumped me in to a generic category of IBS, told me to order a book off of Amazon, and to try a medicine (that I had already previously tried). While I don't disagree stress doesn't help any medical condition, when I repeatedly tried explaining that my symptoms and episodes are not just brought on my stress, I was dismissed.

Besides his brilliant understanding of the disease; Dr. Dassoupolous is thoughtful and concervative with treatment protocols. He displayed kindness and concern for me during our visit in his office (which was not at all rushed). His office staff is kind, easily approachable & eager to help. *Stress is a leading problem for anyone with bowel disease. Dr.D and his office staff work well together to alleviate that stress when you walk in the door.

This guy is very arrogant and rude. He doesn't listen to what you say...and doesn't followup at all. I was misdiagnosed by him a few years ago. Didn't realize until recently until he admitted it! He should stick to research and let other doctors deal with patients. I am very disappointed in this man.

When I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, I was referred to Dr. D as he is the best GI specialist in DFW. Dr. D is the best doctor I have ever had, and I have had a lot of doctors. He spends quality time with his patients and genuinely cares about them. In fact, I have never had a doctor dedicate so much time to learning about me and making sure that our treatment plan is best fit for my life and disease. Being a doctor is so much more than a job for Dr. D - his patients see him as a part of their family (he's definitely a part of mine!). He is incredibly knowledgeable and caring, and while dealing with IBD can be incredibly challenging and complex - he manages to explain everything to me so that I feel comfortable. I trust Dr. D - and although I now live in Chicago I travel back and forth to see him because I know he is the best of the best.

horrible experience, from front desk to check out. Dr.D was 45 min late deeing me and I felt rushed because he was now late for procedures. I was encouraged to sign up for my chart. When I sent messages regarding my condition it took over a month for an answer. Then he called me rudely speaking. I will not go back and will take health concerns elsewhere. The little asian lady at the front has much sacrasm.The nurse who addressed my emails was very pleasant and helped me to understand what was going on with my insurance and start of injection. I would not recommended this practice AT ALL.

The staff was amazing. When Dr. Dassopolous came in, he had my chart in hand and had already reviewed it. He wanted my side of the story which I could tell he actually listened to. He even wanted to know about my family (kids names and ages). I didn't feel rushed at all. He took the time to sit down, listen, take notes, answer all my questions, and share his game plan for care. I left with confidence that I picked a winning Dr. He is caring and smart. It's really hard to find that combo.

I've been treated many years for Crohn's and steadily going downhill to the point I had to quit working. I was in bad shape. Then my PCP recommended I go to Dallas to see Dr. D. I can't tell you how grateful I am to have his expertise. He made significant changes to my medical treatment and I am now slowly improving. He has stayed positive, encouraging, and attentive when I just wanted to give up. He is straight-forward and truthful without harshness, has an incredible amount of knowledge and experience, and listens intelligently. I won't go to anyone else.
