I gave this place the benefit of the doubt after the first visit. Maybe I just had an appointment on a bad day. But after realizing his remarks were actually meant to be transphobic and the second visit, he praised Texas for "open carry" I knew this place was messed up. To be like this and dealing with patients with severe mental health issues is so inappropriate. Not going back. Rude impatient staff as well. The secretary who called was very short and aggresive. Do yourself a favor and listen to these reviews.

He accepts all insurance, so naturally your doctor will refer you to him. I wish I’d read these reviews before subjecting myself to his cruelty and bullying. If you can last 6 months with this guy, you’re a saint. I’d “close down” before each Zoom meeting with him because I’d never know what degrading thing he was going to say. My last visit was terrifying, he added his office manager to my call (without asking me) and they both piled on!

I went in for an appointment. I was waiting in wheelchair. I was going to walk in to his office because I knew my chair would not fit through his door. He comes out to me and says. "I do not mean to be so undescrimitive but I do not have any chairs for you to fit into. that was the most unprofessional thing a Dr. thing could say. I am going to go to medicare and write an appeal about this rude Dr.

He made me uncomfortable , he was not genuine. Waste of money and time. Just wants to give everyone antidepressants . No treatment for anxiety horribly rude and kept saying the medication I took in the past are addictive and I explained to him well I haven't had an issue with coming off that medicine. Basically he thinks is your prescribed any benzodiazepine that your an addict. Extremely difficult to talk too. Horrible experience

Big jerk

First of all, the very small waiting office is always packed with patients which for people with mental helath issues is certainly not good. My anxiety ran rampant while waiting for my appointment which was never on time. Then, you notice that when the doctor starts calling patients in - he is on the roll - people are in and out within 5 minutes which hardly seems acceptable considering why they are all there. It's not a flu shot they came to get, it's professional psychiatric help - and that can not be done in 5 minutes. The reason I finally decided to stop going to this shady practice is that on my last visit I informed the doctor that I was going back to my country after 20 years for the first time and considering that he should have known my history with this place ( war) and my medical history - PTSD, severe anxiety and major depression - I expected his response to be so much more than - "Congratulations!' Here are your meds for next 90 days. Next!" I don't mind spending money… on professional care, but this is not it. It's really more like factory cattle belt. Then, when my refills run out, my pharmacy called the doctor to authorize the prescriptions and they refused to. I called them to inquire about it and they informed me that I did not schedule my appointment in a while, that was their only concern. They were not concerned with why I had not scheduled appointment, what was my current mental state that may have prevented me to do so or that I would be in a situation to abruptly stop taking bunch of medication for which they warn you not to do. It all does not make sense and it is a far cry from the standards of medical practice.

This place is atrocious. Filthy waiting areas, incompetent/rude staff, and most importantly, awful patient care. Dr. Williams (who is actually just a nurse with a second-rate nursing doctorate) sits in her chair, feet up on the table facing you, and reads questions from a script. When it comes to diagnosing patients, she then inevitably pulls out what may just be a "Nursing for Dummies" book, and tells you what it says. Sorry lady, but anyone can just read a book to patients and you definitely shouldn't need to refer to one for simple diagnoses/prescriptions. To top of it, they mis-scheduled my appointment, and sent a nasty letter that day that I would be charged an exorbitant penalty for their mistake. Of course, I won't be paying it and won't be going back. Seriously, stay far far away from this shady operation - I work in healthcare administration and this place and its providers are truly "bottom of the barrel."

Do not put yourself through the pain of dealing with this terrible office. Your mental health will thank you. The staff is rude, especially the office manager. They never call you back and misdiagnose! There are plenty of better doctors out there that will treat you with respect.

I made an appt. with Handrup, and had to cancel. I gave over a months notice. I called to reschedule and was berated and "scolded" for cancelling, but set up a new appt. 3days before the appt., the office called to cancel on me. We rescheduled, then 3 days before my next appt., they called again to cancel. What jerks, Im not playing there game anymore and will have my Dr., (who recommended him) not recommend him to anyone else, and I will certainly not speak a good word about him. I am a new patient of Handrup & Associates and they cancelled my appointment at the very last minute stating that Dr. Marks had an emergency. Since I needed to see a doctor urgently, I called back to try to schedule an appointment with a different person and Dr. Marks assistant Bill was not helpful at all, he was rude, and raised his voice at me. If that is how they treat new patients, what kind of service can you expect from them later on?PS: Also, the person that scheduled my appointment had already warned me that Dr. Marks is always running two hours late.
