Thomas Agesen, MD, is a board-certified physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry), as well as sports medicine. Currently working with patients throughout the Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, community at New Jersey Regenerative Institute, Dr. Agesen has been in practice for nearly 22 years. After graduating from Penn State University in 1991 with a bachelor of science in finance, Dr. Agesen went on to earn his medical doctorate from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1997. Passionate about education, Dr. Agesen even earned the prestigious title of Chief Resident during his residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He later completed a sports and spine fellowship in nonoperative sports injury treatments under his mentor, Dr. Gerard Malanga, at the Kessler Institute of Rehabilitation UMDNJ. Dr. Agesen has a wide range of clinical interests, including sports medicine, electrodiagnostics, and the treatment of acute and chronic tendon, …ligament, back, and joint disorders. Along with his partners, Dr. Malanga and Dr. Jay E. Bowen, Dr. Agesen serves as the team physician for several local high schools and universities in the New Jersey area. He treats athletes of all ages and levels, ensuring they remain at the top of their game.

I’ve been with Dr Agesen for over 8 years and he has helped me tremendously. I drive over an hour to see him. Even though I’ve been seeing him for various neck and back pain he’s helped me with other medical issues by giving me advice on what to do. He genuinely cares about his patients. You will not find another doctor who cares more for the overall health of his patients.

I started as a patient in Sparta and ended up following him when he left that office. Although it is difficult to get to him - he is just the best MD I have ever dealt with. He cares, listens and even solves problems that you may not even are causing other issues.

I am so happy to be referred to Dr. Ageson and I am so glad they did!!! He is one of the smartest Dr.'s I know. He actually thinks about all the relevant issues, usually in his head, maybe some little exam, then comes up with the answer. I wish my primary was as smart as him, but he isn't. I have been through a lot of Dr.'s and he is hands down the smartest!!! Probably bc he cares about people, he is an excellent Dr. I have had other issues and he knew in about 10 minutes my problem that 5 other Dr.'s couldn't figure out, that's the truth. To this day 1yr 4 months I probably would still be in a wheelchair bc that's what these other Dr.'s said, when it was a Vascular clog in my stomach which caused my legs not to work. These Dr.s all came up with the same conclusion, it was my lower back. Dr. Ageson without any xrays, MRI's he concluded to see a vascular. I was fixed in 5 days. He has done a lot for me and he will do for you also.

I was extremely impressed with the care and bedside manner of Dr. Agesen. I would absolutely recommend his to anyone looking for quality care.
