Dr. Thomas Hume Ravin, MD

Nightmare. I have not yet recovered from damage Dr. Ravin inflicted in 2015. I went to see him and said "I'm in physical therapy, I'm making good progress and getting much better, but I heard prolo could speed things up. How do I know if I'm a good candidate for prolo?" He said prolo helps everybody, it always helps, anyone with joint pain is a good match for it. So I asked if there were any possibility it could make things worse, or any side effects; Dr. Ravin said there are never any problems except maybe an infection on the skin, prolo only makes things better, I'll be wanting to come back in a few months to get more because I'll be feeling so good. He explained he would inject pumice into my joint to "tighten it up" because it was too loose, but he did not do any tests on my joints nor ask any questions about my history. I remember feeling that this sounded "too good to be true" but I had heard of other people having good experiences with prolo so I decided to go for it. He… injected me, and it was more painful than childbirth (which I did in 2014 with no pain medication for 12 hours). He said to me "It helps me when you scream because then I know If I'm injecting in the right place." Then he gave me a pain pill from his own personal stash of prescription bottles in his office, and told me I would feel better in two months and want more prolo injections. Six months later my physical therapist documented that I was doing far worse, that I had more pain and less mobility than before I had started seeking physical therapy. I also learned from other prolotherapists, physical therapists, and osteopathic doctors that prolotherapy hasn't used pumice in over 50 years because it has shown to be more damaging than helpful and that current prolotherapy methods (the kind that helped my friends) were totally different substances. When I emailed Dr. Ravin about how I was far worse off 6 months later, he only told me "That's not how it works. Call me and I'll explain it to you again." I have spent thousands of dollars out of pocket to try to reverse the damage the last 5 years. I see other people have had similar terrible experiences with Dr Ravin. I hope this review helps you make a decision better than mine.

Dr Ravin shoots straight from the hip tells it like it is ,his acumen and skill as an educator and practitioner are great . His diagnosis in treating musculoskeletal pain is great.He understands the body mechanics and can formulate a treatment programme that will benifit you
