Dr. Thomas Dignan Rizzo, MD

Again a total waste of time, I was profiled for sure I was coming in with severe back and body pain and he said to me " why would you get these injuries fixed? there were 11 total that occurred in a hospital in Nashville TN. There was another DR with him but I can't recall his name. OK have you ever heard a DR say that ? What was his point, I'm not worth it, I was to old at 68 to be repaired ? He does not deserve to hold a medical license, a horrible and cold doctor ! I need to call Mayo and find out if they can take me now. I really don't think that this is really is a Mayo' policy.

Terrific physician! Took time to explain my ailment and used conservative treatment which was successful ! His calm demeanor and hopeful statements helped me thru the worst part of my extremely painful condition

Dr. Thomas D. Rizzo was shockingly unhelpful. It is my opinion that he should be reprimanded for his treatment of me as his patient. Specifically and most significant was his disregard of my requests for mental healthcare assistance as it relates to my chronic pain condition. His disregard for my explicitly clear statements (written and oral) that I am suffering from suicidal thoughts and anxiety shows that he simply does not care or chooses not to address patient's concerns. My office to receive the results of my tests was actually Dr. Rizzo indicating that I do not have a condition of a significance of which the Mayo Clinic should be concerned. I was told there was a Pain Management book available "downstairs" which may have some useful things for me to consider. Dr. Rizzo also stated I could get this book on Amazon for a third of the price. After 25 years of pain, I was definitely looking to Mayo to "find answers" as advertised in the current marketing campaign. I was not… provided any answers, nor was I offered.. a) a prescription for what physical therapies I could try again. b) directions for potential next steps that would allow me to work normally and have a normal sex life. c) acute treatment options for pain flare ups, helpful medications (I have only a few of my emergency pills left, pills are used sparingly and are almost 5 years old - perhaps having lost their efficacy) d) help with my mental state (suicidal thoughts & depression) I was offered a) a referral to a Mayo affiliate? in Jupiter Florida (3hr drive from my home?)... for what services he didn't even say. b) a book on Pain Management. So here I am... 4 months after reaching out to make an appointment with the Mayo Clinic - still in pain... new to Florida with no useful options or instructions for where I may seek additional treatment.

Dr. Rizzo was very professional and smart. He was able to diagnose my problem in no time and was very thorough in explaining what was going on. I couldn’t recommend him more!

I could not recommend this doctor. I left because he was so insulting. Looking for a dr. who cares.

So pompous....Looking for another dr. They Mayo is SO screwed up UNLESS you have money. Then they like you. He acted like he was better then me and I could not get a word in edgewise. He questioned everything I said then gave this ridiculous diagnosis. Waste of time for me.

I liked Dr. Rizzo in the beginning but his manner with me at the last visit disturbed me. Our bill was very high there and I noticed he and my other dr. I had also liked was different with me. FThey were impatient and unkind. Financial Assistance humiliated me.Dr. Rizzo ended our visits and referred me back to my GP. I will never go back to Dr. Rizzo or the Mayo Clinic. Never.

Dr. Rizzo worked very hard to try to find out what was wrong with me. Although he was nor successful, he was able to finally send me to a Mayo dr. who has so far. He at first seems to not have a lot of personality, all business, but I think he is just quiet around people he doesn't know well. I also got a smile last time I was there. He was able to help me with my pain. He seems uncomfortable with emotional females. lol

Dr. Rizzo is fabulous. He diagnosed my 16 yr old daughter with a stress fracture in her back. We had been going to doctors all over Atlanta for 9 months trying to figure out what was causing her such severe pain. He took his time and explained the problem in great detail. We are now working with him on her rehab. I highly recommend him!
