Dr. Thomas Scully, MD

My husband and I both had surgical procedures performed by Dr. Scully, with mine occurring back in 1999. My operation was a neck discectomy c-6/-c-7 and utilized a donor bone and metal plate/fusion. At that time I had been experiencing excruciating pain and now, 20 years later, I have been pain free all due to his expertise, knowledge and compassion he extended to me. Earlier this year when my husband developed lower back issues, without hesitation we knew that it would be his turn to have Dr. Scully and no one else, perform his work. A microdiscectomy was performed on my husband who is now able to resume all his work and outdoor activities (pain free!) . We want to take this time to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Scully and his entire staff. Their professionalism, understanding and genuine compassion was all top notch. This was all very much welcome at a time that we felt that there would be no hope for our recovery. To anyone out there that is experiencing back/neck pain… and is in need of a miracle worker, we strongly suggest that you look no further than Dr. Scully and his team. T. Scully operated on the wrong level of my spine. I was scheduled for a lamenotomy, discectomy at L 4-5. I ended up with a lamenectomy at L 3-4 which left my spine unstable. Scully charted it as a “Mis-adventure.” I then had a real surgeon in Phoenix fuse my spine and dynamic stabilization.

Dr. Scully operated on the wrong level of my spine. I was scheduled for lamenotomy, discectomy at L 4-5. He did a lamenectony at L 3-4 calling it a mis-adventure and could not complete surgery due to instability.

I am so grateful that Dr. Scully was recommended to me and that I followed through with his recommended surgery. For months I was in pain 24-7 with horrible sciatic pain that was shooting all the way down to my foot. Dr. Scully assured me that he had performed this surgery many times and that I would be OK. His sincere demeanor made me confident. I had this surgery three weeks ago and the pain is completely gone and I feel like I have a new lease on life and I am feeling very optimistic about living the way I was before the setback this pain was causing me. Thank you so much Dr. Scully! I don’t believe it is a God complex (as I had seen in a review) that Dr. Scully has as much as it is his God-given talent to heal! The entire staff is just wonderful.

Dr Scully has performed two different surgeries on my spine. He is compassionate, listens to fears and explains procedures. He is a kind doctor and those are hard to find these days! I highly recommend him for any neurosurgery issue.

It has now been over 3 months since my Neck Fusion with instrumentation. I had spondylosis with myelopathy and had 3 c-disc removed, replaced, fused, bone graft and hardware in the area. When I went to Dr Scully I was was in such pain with extremed limited range of motion and burning pain in my shoulder, arm and pain in my thoracic area. I am now getting the ROM back in my rt arm/shoulder, the pain is getting much better. The myelopathy may take up to a year to get better but its feeling better already! The procedure was called Anterior Cervical Fusion and the scar is healing nicely. I am very impressed with the healing and as stated my recovery is going great and only a bit past 3 months. The office staff are very professional and the scheduling was done with ease! Great Doctor!

I recently had extensive surgery on my cervical spine that consisted of removal and replacement of 3 disc in my c-spine, bone grafting, spinal fusion and a plate with screws in my c-spine. I am now in P/T and things seem to be moving along. When I first went to Dr. Scully he ordered a updated MRI on my c-spine and the surgery was ordered and completed in a very timely manner. He is very professional as is his staff. The procedure was explained in great detail, I am currently as stated in P/T and in the process of healing. I am quite pleased to have Dr. Scully as my Neurosurgeon and would advise anyone with Neurological issues that may require surgery to go to him. EXCELLENT!

I didn't even get to see him. Refused appointment until he saw my MRI results. His assistant called and said I wasn't an important enough surgery for the doctor to perform on my neck. She told me to go elsewhere.

This doctor is highly regarded and highly recommended. I was happy as a clam until the surgery he recommended turned out to not be covered by my insurance (Medicare Advantage) and he told us he would make an appeal and let us know. We even went through the lecture for surgery prep. We waited over a week or more to hear from him or his office. We finally got his nurse to talk to us and she notified us he had not done it yet and would talk to him. After not hearing again we called her and she told us that he decided not make the appeal. I asked why we were not notified or hear a reason or recommendation. She said he was tired of fighting the insurance people. I can appreciate that, but why did he not have the courtesy to inform us of this and suggest further action? I felt sort of kicked to the curb. Needless to say I would not go back.
