Dr. Thomas Walter Umbach, MD

This Dr did my gastric sleeve about 10 years ago and I don't have any problems with the surgery it went great if I have any problem it's a typicall problem with many surgeons they have no ability to talk with patients but I have no doubt about his ability as a surgeon and if I have to choose a great surgeon or a bad surgeon who can relate to patients I will take the great surgeon every time.

This dr should not be trusted. He made lots of poor decisions and many people have suffered from his hands. Do you’re homework. Clark county records. Know who you’re dealing with.

This will be under review and malpractice suit soon. Pls beware that he has hurt many life’s. It money over oath.

My wife had surgery at this clinic a couple of years ago, and to this very day I am still very upset about what happened. The out-patient surgery turned out to be life threatening. When the time for the surgery took much longer than expected, I wanted to see my wife and find out what was going on. They would not let me into the surgery area. Time passed, no response from the doctor or anyone, I then pushed myself thru the door to see my wife only to find her with a breathing tube down her throat, and she was unconscious. The doctor stood off several feet from my wife's bed while others attempted to resusitate her. They could not, an ambulance was called, she was transported to a "far away" hospital, rather than the closest hospital (wonder what the fee arrangement was between the doctor and this hospital) my wife was admitted to ICU still unconscious, yet doctor Umbach was no where to be found. Later in the night calls to dr Umbach were not answered, my wife was still… unconscious. Late that night my wife finally awoke, terrified from the experience. Yet, again, no call or visit from the doctor. He finally showed up the next morning, late, and I jumped on him about what had happened to my wife, and where was he when we needed him. His response was "well I see talking to you is a waste of time" he then turned and left. The last I heard from this quack was a bill for another $60,000 for the emergency treatment for their screw up. You can guess where I filed that bill. Filed complaints with the hospital, licensing board, everyone, but nothing happened. He is still out there doing this. Do not risk YOUR LIFE with this doctor or his clinic. It just isnt worth it. Food for thought: ever wonder why this clinic asked for cash $$$$....fee was $14,500 with a $5,000 down payment. Then on day of surgery they demanded the balance of $9,500.00 be paid in cash. In cash, think about that.......just under the threshold of the $10,000 requirement to report to the IRS......makes a fella wonder dont you think??

Both my boyfriend and I had the surgery with Dr. Umbach. He is an excellent surgeon, and his office staff is both professional, friendly and helpful. Our experience has been so positive we heartedly recommend him for weight loss surgery! AG & EL

Dr Umbach took me on as a patient even though he was not the doctor that performed my gastric bypass. I was having nausea and other issues and he ran a bunch of tests and procedures to investigate. Dr Umbach and Dr Apel made a fast decision that I needed my gall bladder removed and that was what was causing me issues. The very next day they squeezed me in on their surgery schedule and removed it. Thank God they made that decision because my gall bladder was very oversized and full of stones. I truly appreciate both of these doctors and Blossom is where I would recommend others go to seek gastric sleeve or gastric bypass.

GREAT DOCTOR

I am currently undergoing testing before my gastric sleeve surgery in 3 weeks. Because I have some extra medical issues Dr. Ubach has ordered extra appropriate testing for me before surgery to ensure my safety. I appreciate his thoroughness. His staff, although very busy, are friendly and helpful.

I was banded in 2009 and honestly I was just glad to find someone that took my insurance. However, everything went great- he managed my pain despite my numerous allergies, he addressed hospital administration when they offended me- and now changed hospitals and has the same team so that they are sensitive patient needs. After my surgery I called to ask if on day 5 pain was normal (because he provided his personal cell number) and so it was a Saturday but he (with wife in tow) rushed right over to my hotel to check on me since he knew I had traveled alone! I also learned his fixed a hernia he found and helped set up follow up care ect..and there is not one bad thing I could say about Dr Umbach. Also, he got my surgery approved in 2 weeks! I had issues with insurance changes and therefore couldn't get good follow up care back home for adjustments so now I am revising to sleeve. We now have drs in the area that can do it..and I considered it but honestly his skill is unparalleled and so I… can't bring myself to go anywhere else because I trust my life in his hands and would recommend anyone I love to him. He also has a great system now for out of town patients to get approved fast and meet all requirements ect so I would encourage anyone no matter of their location to go to him. Also he does cutting edge stuff like vitamin infusions before surgery to help healing, and measure basal metabolic rate so you know the calories you burn before exercise is accounted for ect.
