Bedside manner and overall assessment of options are very much lacking. In the words of this doctor "I'm a surgeon, so I would recommend surgery." I came for a checkup on an old and previously undiagnosed injury which has been giving just the slight bit of pain and trouble. I walked away feeling all but pressured into surgery, and somewhat judged for wanting to try something else first. He did not go over my films, or give much explanation for what's wrong other than to say "it looks bad". After spending days trying to figure out what to do given that effectively I was given no treatment options at all, I went for a second opinion which actually cautioned against surgery in my case, citing risks and potentially grave complications of the procedure, and was directed to do PT first, which is the treatment plan I'm proceeding with. Seems this doctor just wants to cut. Avoid.

Dr Youm is a really special Dr. He has helped me so much with some pretty bad hip problems. I've had 2 surgeries with Dr Youm...and have gotten really good results. His office and staff are also top notch. I highly recommend him.

Doctor Youm is a very reliable trustworthy doctor. He performed surgery on my hip over 8 years ago and I’ve been feeling great ever since. Before you choose Stem cell therapy, in our case knee .. First of all we spent $5k with the hopes of some relief. After a year follow up no relief, asked what else can be done & was told "ask the office mgr.(RUDE ) he said a booster pcp shot may help & would cost $1 k . Really !!! WE Just spent 5k . I'm sure Dr. Youm is a very good surgeon however the patient should be told of statistical success rates in the US as the FDA does NOT allow stem cells to be taken whether from iliac crest ,belly fat etc unless it's performed the same day. Atletes & people who can affort the cost can go to Germany or other places overseas & get excellent results due to the fact that they can take out stem cells , put them in petri dish for a mo th so they multiply by at least 100 times more & be effective . Hopefully the FDA will allow this in the future so people can benefit but PLEASE ask the dr. the Statistical positive results of this as all depends on age, condition etc. I wish we… knew this as we'd have 5k not depleyed from our bank acct. I have seen Dr. Youm and his staff for over a year, and have done two surgeries (hip and knee) with him. I have been very happy. Dr. Youm is really good at what he does. He is careful and measured. I trusted his advice and appreciated his care for me. There was a technical glitch with the surgical schedule for one of my surgeries and he and his staff went out of their way to accommodate what I needed. I would highly recommend him to anyone. My physical therapist originally gave me his name saying that the patients of his she had treated had good outcomes and all thought highly of him. Since the PT deals with the aftermath of a lot of surgeries I trusted her opinion. She was right!

I am very grateful for this development of modern medicine and excellent doctors, superior experts, like Dr. Youm who are very knowledgeable and well trained with experience. He was recommended as the best surgeon for the hip by my orthopedic spine surgeon who was familiar with his previous surgeries. He correctly diagnosed the hip problem prior to MRI test. I already trusted that he would do excellent work for the labral tear and impingement of the hip. However, my main concern was hip stability because I knew that it can happen to me again considering how easy it was for me to get injured in the first place. I read about treatment of hip instability on the internet but I did not discuss with him because it was out of context. I only mentioned whether treatment of hip impingement will affect the hip stability. After arthroscopy surgery, I was so grateful when he explained that he did capsular repair for hip stability and I could see on the X-ray how carefully he shaved bones… for impingement. He said that females have more risk for hip instability. He gave careful consideration, has active listening skills, and understands that prevention is more important than continuing to fix the problems. The hip surgery was success and now I am free from worry about reoccurrence. Words cannot express my gratitude for his expertise, listening, thoughtfulness, kindness, and care.

Dr Youm was terrific in explaining what needed to be done and what to expect. All of my pain is gone. Life changing.

Dr. Youm has done all five of my joint surgeries (three hip, two shoulder) and I find him to be a smart, skilled and caring surgeon. I am a type A senior and push myself physically and the wear and tear on my body is undeniable. Though friends have tried to convince me to try their surgeons I stick with this doctor as I trust and respect him and he treats me likewise. His office is efficiently run and the hospital staff where he performs his surgeries is very good. I get terrible nausea from anesthesia and the anesthesiologists there do whatever they can to avoid this reaction and they are successful. The post op nursing care is very attentive. At least try him for a consultation; you owe it to yourself to have the best on your side.
