Dr. Thu Anh Nguyen, MD

5-stars? Are we talking about the same doctor and staff? I was sent to see Dr. Nguyen after suffering from 2 seizures and a migraine that lasted for 7-months. Dr. Nguyen ordered 4-hours of Mri's, without telling me, went in to see the results and they found a lesion the size of a quarter. She told me she still didn't know why I was having migraines, I pointed at the picture and asked, "isn't that the problem?" She looked at me like I just robbed her dad or something... I'll never forget that look. She said she didn't know what it was and we'll keep track of it. Next appointment went fine, the appointment after that I missed because her staff didn't call 24-hours in advance, like they said they would. I got a call from her stating that I wasn't serious about treatment and I needed to find a new neurologist. I did so happily. First appointment with the new doc. was dx with MS. I honestly don't think Dr. Nguyen knows what she's talking about and her staff is really rude!

It may sound corny, but I've been to 3 different neurologist in the past...and then I found HER. She's very thorough and she's very DIRECT. She does ...

Dr. Nguyen is an excellent physician who cares for her patients. She gives patients detailed information concerning their disease and actually listens to the questions her patients have. Her staff is a great asset in her practice as they too take an interest in patients. They assist to any level at which they are capable and when they need to return a call, they actually do. When I visit her office, I am reminded of the way the healer's art was practiced fifty years ago; personably, with a brilliant mind and a caring heart.

Dr. Nguyen is just the doctor I needed to fight the PD war. I have recommended her to anyone else who is fighting the same battle.

For some reason, Utah Neurologist like for patients to "apply" via a referral. Dr. Nguyen is no exception. Her game is simple: you get a referral and if she likes your case, she'll accept, otherwise you're back to looking for neurologist somewhere else. And like other Utah doctors, if your case is intractable or not easy, then she'll simply pass on you. And the best part is that she'll even "refer" you to a different doctor, but with out passing on the referral -- basically she'll dump you onto another doctor while requiring you to go get another referral. And so you have the never ending cycle of trying to find a doctor that will see you while your poor referring physician is stuck in the middle. While I am holding Dr. Nguyen accountable for the broken system, she is part of the system where there is no help for epileptics that are intractable. It doesn't matter if you can pay or have good insurance, Utah neurologists are simply the most selfish lot of doctors, who will only help… those that are treatable. So the short story is that Dr. Nguyen is only interested in new and treatable cases, not maintenance or management cases. And for that she gets the lowest rating possable. Doctors need to realize that by creating a system where people who have chronic conditions can't get help because of selection criteria they are doing harm and thereby violating their Hippocratic oath.

Very good doctor. I want to another neurologist first, which was a total waste of money.
