Dr. Timothy A. Collins, MD

This is probably the rudest doctor I have ever come in contact with. I have been a patient of this clinic for many years. Sadly, my neurologist left. I was passed on to him! My first visit with him he barely looked at me and said "Why are you here?" I have multiple cranial nerve issues and have underwent TWO brain surgeries. I mean, REALLY?!! He was so rude to me that I ended up in tears because I was so angry and I totally shut down. He also left the door a third of the way open so others could hear our conversation. HIPPA LAWS?!! I had waited 6 months to see him and had a list of things I wanted to discuss with him. None of that was done. He told me to come back in 3-4 months and I walked right out the door without making an appointment. After a week, a follow up appointment showed up on MYCHART with him. I called and told the receptionist that I needed a different doctor because he was just "not a good fit for me". So, I'm going to give one more neurologist there a try!

Dr Collins spends very little time with his patients and simply delegates you to one of their PA's or NP.. These people are not medical doctors and are seeing his patients while he sits in an office talking with other Dr's. If you ask to see him he gets mad and is very rude. Not someone that should be a Dr!!!

Didn't listen to all of the relevant information regarding my case. Takes forever to get an appointment. But aren't a lot of alternatives.

I've been seeing Dr. Collins for several years for migraines.

It does not take a special doctor to find a medication that works. Most doctors can do that. He does not have any personality. He once said to me, "all medicine works for certain things" after I had told him the medication was not working for me. Thank you for repeating the basic principal of medicine I just explained to you DOCTOR. My problem is he is not a doctor because he wants to help people. You can tell within 2 minutes or less is the doctor cares what you think. He wants to be a doctor so he can work at Duke and make 500k or more a year. Why can't medicine be just about helping people and caring for each and every single patient that walks into your offices? I guess that's a lost art nowadays, caring about your patients.

All he wants to do is prescribe more and more drugs..does not listen to your concerns are try to get to root of problem. His favorite words are "if this drug does not work we have many more to try" no bedside manner and spends little amount of time as possible with patient. If all u want is drugs...this is the dr for you..

Dr.Collins has an excellent manner and LISTENS to all the details I give him about how I feel/my condition. If you have an emergency, you need to go to your local e.r. Dr. Collins does not take emergency/urgent appointments. Calls in to his office are generally NOT returned for a day or two. For a general follow-up appointment, you may not see him for several months; he has a lot of other patients. Office and support staff are excellent! Everyone at Duke has been extremely professional and courteous at all times.I went to Dr. Collins for a second opinion after having seen another Neurologist closer to home. (I live almost 2 hours away from his Durham office.) I preferred Dr. Collins and his staff over my other experience and have been going to him ever since (about a year). I feel the Quality and Consistency of care is worth the drive and the wait times.

I have been seeing Dr. Collins for about 7 years for facial pain caused by a residual brain tumor. It took a while to find the right balance of medications that work best for me but doc kept trying until it was right. Beside manner is excellent. Spend time I need if I am having issue. Would recommend to anyone.
