Dr. Timothy H Kirkland, MD

I have seen Dr Kirkland several times. Trigger thumb and other fingers, also shoulder pain. He is fantastic.

We seen him three times first visit he told me my son had a sprained wrist kept him out of baseball for 4 weeks then asked my son if he felt like he could play of course my son said yes! So a couple more weeks later we went back to play. First at bat my son hears something pop! Took him back to Kirkland who tries to say this is a separate injury. Did xrays and came back in the room saying xrays look good. So I told him my sons trainer feels like he has a hamate injury at that time he decides to do another xray. Couldn’t see anything so I ask for a CT Scan .. CT result broken Hamate bone!! Then tries to say it was his idea to do the CT scan and this was common. I was so mad I couldn’t even truly speak up. He still says it’s a totally different injury which I still do not believe. We are seeing a different doctor. And he is condescending and tries to make you feel like an idiot. His bedside manners are terrible!

Where to start , well when Mr Kirkland walked into the room he had a predetermined assessment of my knee injury. So no matter what was said he paid no attention you. He asked me what I thought was wrong with my knee, really? That’s why I was there I’m not a Doctor.Then he asked what the ER Dr thought the injury was. We told him the ER doctor thought it was a torn meniscus he then pushed on my knee cap and concured. My wife and I asked if we needed a MRI to determine the extent of the injury and to make sure that was the actual problem, was told that a MRI would be very expensive and was not needed. Then we asked what needed to be done. He said to perform the rice procedure. It would heal itself. Then we asked what about physical therapy, he replied that physical therapy was very expensive and would be a waste of money. Just go home and put ice on it and perform a couple of exercises. Also, when I first came into the office I was on crutches he told me to get rid of the crutches. He… stated I didn’t need them. However, It was painful for me to put any pressure on my leg. So I feel that he is arrogant and condescending and has no emphaty for his patients in my opinion he would make a great workers compensation Doctor , go home put ice on it it will be fine deal with it . After leaving emergortho I got another appointment with orthocarolina and actually got a professional assessment of my injury and working towards a full recovery .

I ruptured a biceps and went to see Dr. Kirkland. He was up front with me and honest. No he was not warm and fuzzy, I don't need that from him, I needed him to be very good at fixing me, He was. I ruptured the other biceps a few years later, I knew instantly who I wanted to fix it, Dr. Kirkland. I went to him and it was fixed using a different technique than my first repair, meaning that he stays current and knowledgeable of new procedures. My second repair was outstanding just as the first. I have taken family members down to see him. I trust his abilities. Having said that I don't know about his ability to pick and chose who he wants to see. I have no issues with him at this point.

Dr kirkland is just fine as a doctor BUT HE NEEDS TO FIRE DAWN. I NEEDED A FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT SHE TREATS CERTAIN PEOPLE WITH CERTAIN MEDICAL COVERAGE VERY BADLY AND DEMANDED I GET A REFERRAL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD WHEN I CAME THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE!

I was referred to Dr Kirkland by one of his associates. Dr Kirkland told me that surgery would not help my problem and did not explain to me why but said I could get a second opinion. I feel like his associate would not have sent me to see him if he did not think I needed surgery. My hands and arms stay numb most of the time and I can't hardly write. I left the appt feeling very sad and disappointed. I really think that Dr Kirkland did not want to do surgery on me because I only have medicare. Now I am set back waiting for another referral to another surgeon. I was warned that he may not want to do surgery but I was told when referred that I needed surgery. This also happened to someone I know and they had to get surgery done by another medical practice.

My husband went to this Doctor and I went along. He was very RUDE and unprofessional. We couldn't believe how he behaved. The entire appointment was awful. We will never see him again and have told everyone we know not to go to see him! We have seen other doctors at Carolina Orthopedic and were very satisfied.

Extremely disappointed with this Dr. He was very rude and unwilling to address my issues. I will never see this provider again.

To be frank, I had an awful first impression of DR. Kirkland. He did not provide me with a thorough assessment, was impolite, and failed to explain the logic behind his differential. I will not be continuing care with this doctor. As a fellow healthcare provider, I felt that he was very apathetic toward my concerns, and refused to explore the extent of my problem which is continuing to get worse. Very dissatisfied with the service he provides.
