Dr. Timothy S Mitzel, DO

Dr.Mitzel is an excellent psychiatrist. He always fits me in when I’m struggling. I have read a lot of negative reviews on here about him and his office staff. Personally, everyone I’ve ever dealt with in the office is above and beyond professional. If you are invested in treatment he will help you. Not showing up for appointments, wastes his time when he could be helping someone who needs it. If you think he is tough, you should go to the community mental health centers. I couldn’t ask for a better team of people!

I am amazed at the negative reviews I've read by obviously disgruntled patients. This man is professional, patient, a gentleman and he listens carefully to what you have to say and doesn't beat around the bush or sugar-coat his analysis. He also has a sense of humor which, I would imagine, is sometimes tough to summon given his specialty. I would recommend him to family and friends in a New York Minute!

I was a patient of Dr. Mitzel's for 14 years. My husband died, and my closet living relative died 3 mos. later. I did miss appts. but I was in a terrible state. Dr. Mitzel could have cared less, I guess, because he dropped me at a time when I was most vulnerable and really needed his care. I can't say he's a 'bad' doctor, but I don't think someone who does what he did is a 'good' doctor either. His staff could be impossible at times. He seemed to hire some of the most hardened women to work for him . . . but I guess that was his prerogative. Too bad.

I called the Cranberry location to speak with Dr. Mitzel as a provider, and after seeing so many negative reviews on here, I had to give a positive one for Mary Carol, the receptionist at the Cranberry location. Extremely kind and professional. Thank you!

To get an appointment takes a month for even a call back and then told you will not be considered as a patient because this doctor declined you. A month of waiting then to be treated with such disrespect from this doctor and his staff was a horrible experience. I have plenty of insurance that this doctor accepts, and to be told the dr does not have to tell you a thing of why you were turned down.if you don’t need therapy now you will need it after an experience like this

I couldn't cancel a 0700 Mon appt because my mom was in emergency surgery. The same day he sent a letter dropping me as a patient, as I have learned he does to all pts. Shame on you for abandoning a vulnerable population heartlessly, based on your greed!! You won't even answer my calls to discuss the matter. I think the medical board may want to discuss it.

Called as a new patient. Told to do intake interview, which went well. Told next step was them contacting me to schedule appointment. They never called so I called after a few weeks, because it was nearing the timeframe they had said I would be scheduled in. I was told they called me and left a message. When I explained they did not and I never received a message they got hostile. The message they supposedly left was that they decided to refer me to another provider. The other provider doesn't take my insurance and now I'm left with no meds while I try to find another provider. Awful experience all around and don't tell someone you will schedule an appointment if you have no intention of taking them on. It takes months to get psych appointments so this really screws people. Then lying about calling and leaving a message and getting hostile is the icing on the cake. Would not recommend to anyone.
