Dr. Timothy Andrew Scearce, MD

I've been one of Dr. Scearce's patients for several years, and he has always listened to my concerns and taken the time to respond to my questions. We also thoroughly discuss my medication options. I had a false positive reading on an MRI recently and underwent a follow-up MRI for confirmation. I was quite anxious about the result. Dr. Scearce emailed me as soon as the reassuring results came back (5 a.m.), which was such a relief. I have appreciated his human approach to patient care.

I saw this man a couple of years ago and first he yelled at me because I have a drivers license, even though I told him I had been on State monitoring for years and that the State of Washington had taken me OFF of monitoring because my seizures are so mild that I don't even lose consciousness during them and I could have a conversation with someone during a seizure AND because I hadn't had a seizure for years. He just kept yelling at me that I was irresponsible and that someday I was going to hit a little kid. Even though I kept reiterating that I had been seizure free for years, he kept yelling the same thing over and over. Then he wrote in my chart that I have grand mal seizures. I had to call him and tell him that I had TOLD him that I was initially diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy, not generalized epilepsy. He grumbled "Why do you think you have temporal lobe epilepsy?" I described my symptoms and told him that the initial EEG showed the focus in the temporal lobe; he… said "hrmph - well I supposed you do have temporal lobe seizures". I found him to be mean and plain incompetent.

After waiting a full year and being told he would compare all Scans on growth, he now tells me he doesn't have any comparison. It's not right to make a patient wait longer then they have to when they have a mass in their brain. Not understanding why he doesn't have these past scans when he clearly had them at our appointment. It's like he doesn't even hear what you are saying to him. Trust me if you don't have confidence in your Neurologist it's time to move on to one you will trust.

This doctor gave inaccurate information regarding my diagnosis. The opposite of what I was told is documented in multiple medical journals. He disregarded my comments and came into my appointment with a pre-concieved diagnosis. He told me they would remove me from my seizure medication and do no further testing.
