I 100% agree with this guy being completely biased, especially when requested by an attorney. He would rarely speak with me directly, instead he would send an email to all parties to include opposing counsel. He hadn't reviewed anything from the previous ruling and wasted two weeks of my time getting the history to him. He continuously painted me as someone who was delaying the process even though he moved the assessment up a whole month only 3 days after telling us when it would start. He took no consideration to the fact that I am Active Duty military and can't just drop everything to meet his timelines without warning. He was definitely speaking with opposing counsel though he knows it's prohibited. Thankfully he resigned when I called him out on his obvious bias that he wouldn't even speak to me about.

Excellent evaluation and well versed on what is in the best interest of the child and trauma informed care! Thank you for seeing the truth. I am forever grateful.

This guy is the worst! Like some of the other reviews mentioned, I also took the reviews on him with a grain of salt. I figured it was disgruntled people who lost. I see now that I was wrong. He is extremely biased, I don't think he even went through the binder of evidence I gave him. If he had I don't see how he could of came to the conclusion he did (unless he's just blind and dumb) which is possible. T. Ryan belittled and mocked me when I didn't understand a question. Would not allow me to give him updates about concerns as they happened. He lied in his report numerous times about me and left extremely important details out. He was so biased and so off base with everything in his report that my attorney was able to catch him in lies and completely dismantle his whole report. The judge essentially ignored everything that his report said and everything T. Ryan recommended. He is a fraud and a waste of time and money. Unethical, egotistical and shouldn't have this kind of power.

Dr.Ryan is in a position to play an objective and helpful role in family's lives. But I can tell you from personal experience that his r evaluations are biased and he conducts himself in a very biased and unethical manner. In our case he also completely disregarded mandatory reporting requirements and chose not to protect children at great risk. It is a shame he has any roles in family court.

I was terrified that my ordered a custody evaluation, I have never been evaluated before. Dr. Ryan did a thorough job interviewing the whole family and speaking with our witnesses. His report was spot on about our family dynamics. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I want to first encourage everyone that has experienced anything in the reviews to write down everything that you experienced, do a thorough review of his report and then file a complaint with the Board of Psychology (both Washington and Oregon). I took the reviews with a grain of salt in hopes that the reviews were just angry individuals that didn't get what they wanted but I will say, these reviews are 100% accurate. I have never in my life been treated so unprofessionally as I was by Mr. Ryan (he has a doctorate in philosophy and doesn't deserve the pre-fix of a doctor). Mr. Ryan was supposedly hired by the court to conduct a custodial evaluation. However, it was very clear from my first meeting with him that he had been in contact with the opposing counsel and his client and had his mind made up before ever meeting with me. He informed me that he does not follow laws, that he is there for the best interest of the children, yet refused to take or read any documents that I… provided him for the evaluation. He has a superiority complex, becomes extremely angry when questioned. He will ask a question sarcastically, then argue why you are wrong in your answer. It was also clear that he believed everything he was told by my ex-husband but when presented evidence to support proof to the contrary, he dismissed it or completely refused to look at it. During interviews and home visits, his body language spoke volumes as it was quite evident that it was a waste of his time and he was just going through the motions but had already made up his mind who he wanted to have custody. He doesn’t even follow his own policy as he promises time to go over documents that were provided by others and a chance to rebut them but this is a lie. He also didn’t give us his report until two days before our scheduled trial date which also took an act of God to obtain leaving zero time to request a postponement of trial in order to have a rebuttal expert. Coincidence? Absolutely not! I believe this was a purposeful and an unethical action. Something needs to be done but nothing will change if it isn't taken to someone who can actually do something about this. “We are stronger together than we are alone” -Walter Payton a very concerned parent/client

Did not speak to DHS or school teachers. Regardless his best efforts and evading attorney’s line of questioning, I still have custody.

Unreliable, doesn't follow through, doesn't consult with other professionals. Doesn't understand real life situations. Didn't even interview all children involved.

This guy is BAD NEWS. DO NOT USE FOR CUSTODY EVALUATION. This man is not stable. Very cruel! Look at what one of his student's wrote about him: "I wanted to fight him every day. HE GOT MAD at me for relating topics back to things that I already knew in order to remember them. Tries to be funny, but is CREEPY. Always trying to look up your skirt. Does not grade fairly at all. Needs a reality check. Would not recommend EVER. GET OUT NOW. I learned nothing. He graded me down for participating" "too much."

I recently completed a custody study with this scumbag. He is totally incompetent, biased, lazy and does not follow through with references. From the moment I sat down to begin my first three hour session he had his mind made up. He did not listen to anything I had to say, mocked me, and seem to enjoy degrading me throughout the three hours. Tobias Ryan is a snake. He slithers through his job without a concern for the harm he imparts upon his clients. He is EVIL, totally full of himself and basically a low life thief. BEWARE!!! AVOID THIS HORRIBLE CREATURE, he will ruin your life and laugh at you.
