Summary

I love my job as a pediatrician and as an advocate for children. I will partner with you-- because you know your child best! Together we can support, heal, and provide the excellent care your child deserves.Dr. Sorensen grew up in a family of 5 boys at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake City. He knows all those crags and slopes very well and loves to spend time in the mountains. He served an LDS mission in Honduras and it was there that he discovered he wanted to become a doctor. He went to BYU for his pre-medical education and then medical school in Fort Worth Texas at UNTHSC. In his final year of medical school, he was awarded the Pediatric Student of the Year award. He then completed his pediatric residency at Loma Linda Children's Hospital in southern California. During his training, he saw a wide spectrum of patients, everything from healthy children in the clinic to critically ill patients that he helped to transport back to Loma Linda by helicopter and ambulance. While living in California, his love for Disneyland was cemented and he became a wannabe surfer-dad. He and his wife have had 3 children along the way, 1 girl and 2 boys. When he's not burping a baby or playing on the trampoline you can probably find him on a stroller jog. Outside of his medical experience and training he has been extensively involved at church in the Young Men's program and was also a Utah CASA (court-appointed special advocate) for neglected and abused children.Dr. Sorensen has a special interest in caring for the often-underserved Latin population and looks forward to those visits very much. He understands that language and culture can often be a barrier that hinders care. While on his LDS mission he studied Spanish diligently and was taught by the Honduran people. He acquired a minor in Spanish during undergrad, took additional medical Spanish courses in medical school, and ever since has taken care of Spanish-speaking patients almost daily.I love my job as a pediatrician and as an advocate for children. I will partner with you-- because you know your child best!
