Highly recommend Dr Tom Thomas, MD. He is professional, knowledgeable, caring, eager to help you heal, and extremely talented. Dr Thomas made me feel very confident and comfortable with my health needs. His team at Morristown Memorial are an amazing group of doctors, whose main focus was me and getting me back to being the me. Thank you.

I was referred to Dr. Thomas after tumors were discovered on my thyroid. At the initial visit, Dr. Thomas was kind, patient, and handled the situation with enough humor so I felt relaxed, but was very realistic about the surgery to come. He was at my bed when I woke up in the hospital, explained everything went well, and made arrangements for my follow-ups. Four months later, my scar is nearly non-existent and I feel great. At my final follow-up, not only was there a lot of laughter, but he allowed me see my own vocal cords! He was also very understanding with my concern about my voice not having the power it had before my surgery, and referred my to a speech therapist to help that. He was there for me from soon after the diagnosis to now. There is no higher recommendation that I can give.

Dr. Thomas is personable, with an immediately likable personality; quick with a smile, and straight forward in his answers to your most concerning questions. He is thorough in his diagnosis and carefully plans out how the surgery will occur. I still have follow up appointments but I am pleased and elated that the surgery went very well and thought he was also pleased and maybe surprised by the outcome; as it was a "very difficult surgery"; his words not mine. Dr Tom Thomas is an excellent surgeon. He performed a thyroidectomy and removed one of my mom's parathyroid glands. He was exceptional with my 87 y/o other - matching her one liners with his own - a sense of humor is a prerequisite when dealing with her. Dr. Thomas took the time to explain everything at a level that we could understand - answering all questions. He took as much time with us as we needed. He was compassionate and professional. It is obvious he cares about his patients and enjoys what he does. He was respectful and professional with his staff and it is obvious they respect him and enjoy working with him. My son had his thyroid removed by Dr. Thomas. From our first meeting with him, to our last visit after the operation Dr. Thomas was the ultimate professional. We always knew my son’s thyroid was non-cancerous; but over the years it was growing in small increments. We felt that in the years to come it could interfere with either his breathing, vocal cores, eating, etc. So I decided to have it removed while my son was young and healthy . Dr. Thomas after his examination supported my decision to have the thyroid removed. Not following the Doctor’s direction (no food or drink after midnight) my son without thinking had a cup of coffee in the morning. That led to cancelling his 10AM surgery time. Rather than send us home to try again on another day Dr. Thomas juggle his schedule and performed the operation at 4 PM. Not many doctors would be so accommodating. Dr. Thomas removed my thyroglossal duct cyst this year. During our first meeting he was down to earth, personable, and spoke to me in laymen’s terms. I was immediately comfortable. The surgery turned out to be a tricky one, but my recovery was great and the scar after 3 months looks wonderful; thanks to his skilled hands. I recommend without reservation.

I have had two thyroid surgeries by Dr. Tom Thomas. Dr. Thomas is one of the most highly regarded Head and Neck surgeons in the Morristown NJ area. His office is directly in Morristown Memorial Hospital. I came to Dr. Thomas for observation of a mass near my right thyroid that, with ultrasound biopsies, came back negative for cancer. However, as the mass became larger, Dr. Thomas agreed with me that it could be removed. After the first surgery, the mass/thyroid was discovered to have some cancer. Six weeks later, a second surgery removed my remaining left thyroid. With labs and surgery, it looks like the cancer did not spread. Dr. Thomas is referring me to appropriate treatment and monitoring of my thyroid medications and process. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Thomas and those on his surgical and staff team. There was never any difficulty in recovery, with almost no discomfort post surgery, and no need for drainage. The stitches are folded and will recede by themselves. Thank… you, Dr. Thomas.
