Dr. Valla Penrose Walker, PhD

I had been resistant to seeing a psychologist for counseling for many years, but a low point in life brought me to Dr. Walker. When 50 or more other offices wouldn't even answer the phone, Dr. Walker heard me out and we determined a good fit. Through my work with Dr. Walker, I have truly had my life changed through the reframing and relating of conflict and negative emotion, two things we often avoid instead of engage. Every step of the way I felt heard and understood. Communication in and out of sessions was timely and effective; I never had trouble scheduling an appointment or asking questions. While her direct style in sessions is not for everyone, it makes for effective dialog and progress. If you want someone who will empathize with, understand, and engage in thoughtful processing through your troubles, I strongly recommend Dr. Walker.
