Dr. Vanja C Douglas, MD

I was recently hospitalized for 3 days to be evaluated for a mysterious neurological issue. Through many tests they looked for anything from a brain tumor to a virus. It was a very scary experience. I saw over 20 doctors from 4 different departments and Dr. Douglas stands out far above the others for his care. He is very kind and compassionate, present, engaging, funny and at the same time very professional. He's one of those people that puts you at ease the minute he walks in the room. He was very personable and helpful not only with my illness, but also offered to assist with some administrative issues. The day after my discharge he was thoughtful enough to be the only person to call me from UCSF and follow up to see how I was doing. Dr. Douglas embodies all of the principles of altruistic medicine and he sets the standard for what I'm looking for in medical care from now on. I work closely with people in my careeer as a massage therapist and personal trainer and he has… inspired me to improve my own "bedside manner" with clients. Thank you Dr. Douglas!

My daughter spent 18+ hours in the ER and was admitted for a short time. Dr. Vanja Douglas was clearly the one who was 'on top of it' with her condition. He is inquisitive and thorough, and seemed to have a 'sixth sense' about what she needed both while inpatient and after discharge. He listens, understands, answers questions, and is completely responsive.
