Dr. Varun Kumar Saxena, MD

He over medicated me and never looked at the labs he sent me for. If it wasn't for his nurse I'd be on a liver transplant list or dead! He refused to look at the labs, his ONLY concern was that I my anti seizure meds where in the therapeutic range but ignoring my liver was shutting down. Would NOT recommend this "doctor"!

Dr Saxena is very proffesional and is a credit to the field

I've only had one appointment with him thus far. I only had about 5-10 minutes with him. I spent more time with his PA, who was fine. Very matter of fact, but had an okay bedside manner. I was caught off guard that the PA had me change into a gown (open in the back) and then observed me walking back and forth...a bit akward. I wish I would have known in advance. No diagnosis yet, but tests have been ordered.

I started seeing Dr. Saxena when I was 19. This was over a decade ago so I suppose his personality could have changed, but I doubt it. The main thing I remember is that what I said never mattered. He didn't ask ME what my seizure was like - even when I stayed awake and alert during the seizure. In fact, he didn't really care what my mother had to say about it either. He would take my BOYFRIEND'S opinion over anyone else. Even if he wasn't there! Dr. Saxena would ask him, "Well, what was it like other times when you were present?" It infuriated my mom and myself. And, in the end, when he had me on a molatov cocktail of drugs and none were improving my frequency of seizures, we decided that it was time to move on to a new neurologist. I gotta say though, a good neuro is hard to find!

Dr. Saxena was highly recommended to me but over all I wasn't happy. Doctor Saxena kept having me come back for more and more tests and never explained fully the results from them. I stopped going to him because of this and there was never a call for a follow up. Not happy.

I was referred to Dr. Saxena by my Cariologist who thinks highly of him and his knowledge. At first it was hard for me to quite get acquanited with Dr. Saxena as he is all business but I realized shortly that he knows all he is talking about and really knew what my medical problems and they needed to be taken care of. When in the hospital he promptly turned calls to the emergency dept and also to hospital when I was admitted. I have grown to have confidence with Dr. Saxena and he and my Cardiologist work together with my health problems that are rare. I have great confidenace with him and now speak to him easily and I really trust him as my neurologist.

While Dr. Saxena is very polite. He spent very little time with me during my appointment. He was unfamiliar with my history, and didn't review the documentation he had me fill out prior to my time with him. He asked some questions and did a cursory exam, and then made a diagnosis, that I question. He also recommended medication that I specifically stated I couldn't take because of previous issues I experienced while on them.
