Dr. Venkatesh Janakiraman, MD

Great physician, takes time to listen to the patient's history. One of the few doctors out there, who has time to listen to patient's complaints. He goes over my test results/ past work up and explains the previous test result findings. Dr Venkatesh Janakiraman was kind enough to go over the past work up, causes of my medical problem, along with possible ways to treat the condition. He was quite straight forward and explains the condition in detail/ takes his time towards his patients. I never felt rushed in the whole appointment. Dr was kind enough to ask me about my concerns/ any futher questions before closing. I highly recommend this physician for a quality care.

Below is a copy of the complaint submitted to the Board of Medicine. I’d like to file a formal complaint and request the review of Dr. Venkatesh Janakiraman. My name is Lieutenant Commander Kristin Love. I am a critical care provider with the United States Navy. I am filing this complaint on behalf of my younger sister, Sundai Love. Dr. Janakiraman demonstrated racial bias against my sister. She flew all the way from Tokyo, Japan to have a lumbar puncture completed at the recommendation of her Primary Care provider. She supplied Dr. Janakiraman with blood and MRI results and presented to his office respectfully requesting a lumbar puncture. Dr. Janakiraman replied by stating, “You people are always requesting stuff you don’t need. I cannot excuse you from work and will not help you file for disability. It’s also not my fault your insurance sucks.” My sister explained that she lives and works out of the country and only came back to the states for medical care. Her usual… insurance coverage was not active seeing as though she’s resides out of the country for several consecutive years. After two months of requesting a lumbar puncture and repeating tests, Dr. Janakiraman finally made the referral for a lumbar puncture. Precious time was wasted despite knowing the patient had an abnormal MRI result. Of this provider does not want to serve in a medically underserved area or provider care to a specific demographic, he should relocate. Racial comments, insinuations, and denial of timely care is intolerable. Punitive actions must be taken. I certainly hope this board takes this complaint seriously, as miss Sundai Love has a significant fan base being Bakersfield’s success story competing on America’s Next Too Model. I chose this route rather than allowing the online social media community to tarnish this provider’s reputation via a viral post.
