I had a very bad evaluation experience with Dr. Holmes that led to 1.5 year delay in appropriate neurological care and accurate diagnoses. She did not maintain proper professional boundaries. She disclosed how tired she was of her postdoc internship, how she disliked working with children, how she had issues with her supervisor, and how ready she was to just be done. I should have taken that as a major red flag. She questioned the veracity of my history, was not trauma informed in the way she conducted the assessment or questioned me, seemed skeptical about my history of bullying, and just didn’t seem to understand the basic dynamics of bullying, particularly against neurodivergent youth. The assessment felt like an inquisition instead of a collaborative, therapeutic evaluation. It took her 6 months to write up and finalize my report. In that time, her memory of the assessment likely degraded. There were factual inaccuracies in my report that were either due to her note taking or… because she got me confused with other clients. She did not take into account my childhood developmental history and history of treatment for neurodevelopmental disorder when doing her evaluation and formulating diagnoses. She attributed real neurological issues to psychiatric symptoms, which resulted in appropriate neurological care being delayed. Overall, the assessment was unhelpful and was actually harmful to me at the time. I had a great experience with another neuropsychologist and realized how flawed her assessment was. I would not recommend her.
