Dr. Victoria Hecht Murphy, MD

I love going to Dr. MURPHY she is the best! IT just sucks that I can not go to her anymore because that office does not take my insurance (in network)which is Blue Cross Blue choice and now I have to search for amother doctor after going to her for about 11 years it really sucks !

I love Dr. MURPHY she always takes the time and listen to you if you have a health condition that she can not solve she will send you to a specialist that can right away. I'm not able to goto her anymore because that office is not in network with blue cross blue choice that really hurt me to my heart that I had to change my doctor.

Dr. Murphy accidentally entered my exam room and told me in a curt tone that I would have to wait while she saw the correct patient. 40 minutes later when no one had come back I got dressed and left. Office staff were not concerned with this and the office manager defended her behavior. Unacceptable - do not visit this practice or you will be disrespected, too.

Dr. Murphy has been exceptional each time I've seen her. She diagnosed a complex health problem that I'd previously seen multiple other doctors for without satisfaction. I found Dr. Murphy to be incredibly caring and compassionate. Some of the other reviewers don't seem to understand that the doctor might not be able to immediately drop what she is doing to come to the phone and also seem to think lab results come from the doctor rather than the lab; it's sad their ignorance is pulling down Dr. Murphy's rating. She's excellent! I highly recommend her!

I went for an initial consult before I had my records transfered to her. She was very nice and spend a great deal of time with me. Talked too fast but that was ok. I asked if she would be available via phone if there was an issue or problem. She said definitely yes. When I had a routine test, I got an unprofessional report back in the mail from her with a couple of lines scribbled in saying "too bad ......." I called to talk to her and she would not even come to the phone to discuss the results> I was told I had to make an apt to come to see her. I have not been back to the office since. It's not just about money. Sometimes a tel call is impt and it's not always about the money a dr gets from a visit. There was no need to go to see her. All I wanted was a clarification on the unprofession report I had received. To get the unporfessional report I did, via mail, without availabity of a tel conversation is not the dr I am looking for.

After having her as my doctor - I recommended her to my daughter who also now uses her. The day before she meets with patients, she studies the records so she is up to date. She is a good listener and I always enjoy discussing my diagnosis with her. She is very frank about what Medicare will cover and what it will not cover.

Go anywhere but here! I gave up after 8 years. In just six months, they screwed up my meds, billing, blood draws, you-name-it.

I really liked her when I started but on the last two visits she argued with me about a test that I hadn't taken and when I pointed out she had the wrong patient chart she didn't even say "sorry." next she wrote a rx in the wrong name! That did it for me.

Dr. Murphy is "tops" in my book. On my initial visit she conducted a very complete medical history and thorough physical exam. She's a good listener and I felt like we were having more of a conversation about ME rather than a medical interrogation. I would recommend Dr. Murphy to anyone looking for a caring and competent primary physician.

We've had a good experience with Alexandria Primary Care, first with Dr. Kumar and now with Dr. Murphy. My wife has multiple medical problems and I invested considerable time in finding her a new primary physician. Dr. Murphy is very focused, very thorough. She's very good about dealing with my wife's many prescriptions and referrals. We've had a generally good experience with the practice so far as appointments and call-ins for referrals and new prescriptions. The practice has late hours and Saturday hours and are very good about seeing you on the same day if you're sick. And I should mention that my own internist, an associate dean at GWU Medical School, remembers Dr. Murphy fondly and recommended her as an excellent choice for a primary physician.
