Dr. Vinette W Tummings, MD

Dr.Tummings was very friendly and knowledgeable. She’s the only GYN dr to educate me. Will definitely recommend her. Best dr ever

I went to her really excited to have a black woman gyno and she was rude, didn't listen to my symptoms and just gave me a bunch of pain medicine instead of actually trying to figure out what was going on with my body. She was condescending, and after I explained I had had multiple STD tests in the last month and I had been with the same partner for years, said that I should really do another one and after I firmly said NO, she rolled her eyes. She was horrible and rude and a bad name for black woman doctors.

I was really traumatized by this experience but I feel I need to share this so that hopefully it won’t happen to anybody else. She is the WORST doctor I’ve ever been to. I was uncomfortable during the exam and I told her that I’d been uncomfortable during past exams. When I couldn’t relax she started YELLING at me. Truly, yelling at me until I started to cry. Then she rudely told me she couldn’t examine me although the only thing she wasn’t able to complete was the Pap smear. She said things like “god forbid you ever get pregnant, you’ll have to get examined.” After the exam I tearfully told her that it wasn’t helpful that she yelled at me and she denied yelling, stating “I could get louder”. I left the office hysterically crying and would never go back. I’ve never been SO shocked by a doctors behavior. Please don’t go to this doctor unless you feel that you would respond well to her techniques of rudeness and yelling.

I recently saw Dr. Tummings as a new patient for my annual pap and was very pleased with not only her but with the clinical and office staff as well. Short wait times. Friendly and professional staff. Dr. Tummings is patient and took plenty of time to answer ALL my questions (including a myriad of ridiculous ones). She of course lectured/reprimanded me on safe sex but did so in a non-accusatory or judgmental manner. She tells you the truth which is a quality I want any physician who treats me to have. I felt comfortable the entire visit, It is obvious the staff enjoyed working with her as well. I would highly recommend. Will refer to friends. Glad to have finally found a gyn MD I can trust and feel comfortable with.

After assessing me and (wrongly) concluding that I was having a miscarriage, Dr. Tummings' final words to me were: If you had used condoms, you wouldn't be in this situation. So much presumption and judgement, I left her office and never looked back.

The worst experience within a medical setting known to man. As intelligent as she 'thinks' she is, she failed to use the primary tools taught in every medical training; reading and listening. She refused to read my patient chart instead she choose to berate me for requesting certain tests. She labeled me a 'hypocondriac' and said that I was 'wasting time and money' within the medical field. If only she would have ready my file and listened to my pangs of pain and concerns, whe would have understoood my request for testing and the reason for my visit. She was very condescending and downright nasty. She rushed me throughout the entire process, and ignored every word I said. I am still perplexed as to who liked her to allow her to cheat from them in medical school because I can't imagine how she was able to complete medical school with such a lack of couth, and insensitivity to patients. When I forced a word in between her insults, I explained to her my symptoms and she labeled… all of them as 'gas'. A week later it was discovered that I had a more severe medical problem that was missed because of her incompetence and failure to listen. The thought of my experience with this woman, crawls my skin. DO NOT GO TO HER.

I have no words to describe her private office. I felt very uncomfortable, wanted to run away, felt I would come out of there with a very bad disease or infection. Let it be sufficient to say that, she needs to pay serious attention to the cleaning, dust, dirt, rust.
