Virgil De Sio has been a Licensed Counselor for over 14 years. He has had the privilege of working with adolescents, adults, and couples helping them overcome difficulties in life and begin the journey of healing. His experience in his own life’s tragedy and triumph allows him to bring experience and compassion in helping clients work through difficult and troubled times so they may find a sense of peace, passion, and identity. Virgil specializes in helping clients with symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma which affects both the person and their relationships. Virgil teaches one of the only SAMHSA-accredited Anger Management programs in Las Vegas that provides structure, support, and the necessary skills to help clients control their anger and avoid aggressive outbursts. He teaches the importance of embracing our emotions and communicating in a way that allows healing and compassion to overcome the hurt and damage which has strained so many lives and relationships. …Virgil believes that every client has the ability to find their inner strength and develop a set of skills to help them overcome life’s challenges and barriers so they can live with a sense of happiness, comfort, and contentment regardless of the storm they are experiencing. He teaches that true happiness comes from acceptance and forgiveness that can be achieved when we walk through the past hurt and darkness and learn how to once again be whole, and happy with our true selves and the possibilities that our future holds. Virgil received his Social Work degree in Rochester NY in 2003 where he went on to work in a detox facility helping those with chemical dependency issues. Virgil pursued his master’s degree in social work in Rochester, NY, and began working in the mental health field in 2007. He transferred his Social Work license to Nevada in 2011. Virgil's history of personal experiences along with his vast education and training allows him to provide quality evidence-based care for individuals, couples, and family systems that are struggling with mental and behavioral health issues. Virgil uses multiple treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, ACT, mindfulness, patient-centered therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. The one guarantee in life is that everyone at some point will have problems, struggles, and challenges. We experience much heartache, pain, and misery throughout our lives. Our relationships have suffered dearly and so have we. Issues of our past often lead to difficulties in our present.
