Dr. Virginia Moreno Thornley, MD

I am a physician, who is also the patient, and needed a neurologic assessment. After being referred by my primary doctor to two other neurologists in Sarasota, FL who refused to see me for a consultation (too busy & not interested in my condition), I found Dr. Thornley through my insurance provider. She was a Godsend! She is extremely thorough, professional and knowledgeable. Even though I am a physician (not a neurologist), she stated to me that she would speak to me as if I weren’t a doctor and would explain things as she normally would. I greatly appreciated that. Dr. Thornley offered her recommendations for the work up and then included me in the decision. My wife accompanied me to my third and last office visit. Dr. Thornley went over everything in detail with my wife, the exam findings, lab results and not only the radiology reports but the actual MRI scans, and explained them to her. What doctor does that? Nobody I know in my 33 years of practice. If you are seeking a… physician who truly cares AND is an excellent clinician I would recommend Dr. Virginia Thornley.

Dr. Thornley was very thorough and answered every question with great patience and thoughtfulness. Reviewing everything and listening carefully and suggesting that we look into everything that she and also other doctors have suggested. So thankful for her. She's a very caring person. Highly recommend.

Dr. Thornley was very thorough and explained everything, answering every question. She spent a great deal of time with the initial visit with a physical exam, history and record review. She reviewed medications and prescribed physical therapy and was patient and kind.

Dr. Thornley is extremely focused on what is best for the patient and works cooperatively with the patient to guide the patient toward an appropriate form of treatment. She is direct. I consider that to be a positive trait in a physician.

Dr Thornley spent an hour with me At both visits and was very concerned about my issues. She ordered all the appropriate tests to help me with these health matters. She personally called me several times and personally called the ER to arrange my visit to the hospital. She is an outstanding doctor.

She went out of her way to get as much information about my health and was very thorough.

Very rude from first appointment. She informs you to not speak until she is finished then she gives usually less than one minute for “one” quick question about your visit. Then seems to get agitated when the patient asks her to repeat herself. She isn’t associated with a hospital so if you have hospital stays, she will not be allowed to be your doctor. She tests “cautiously” , meaning she orders many tests most of which insurance doesn’t cover so you end up with blood work costing over $500 after you pay your insurance copay because she has no concept that not everyone is wealthy. She is a money doctor that requests very unnecessary tests to be performed by other doctors so she can get her name out there with other physicians with the “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine” mentality. I’ll never go back there. There are tons of neurologist in our area. There is no need to settle

Dr. Thornby is a brilliant and decidated neurologist. She has made an enormous difference in my life. I couldn't rate her highly enough.
