Dr. Walter Alexander Conlan, MD

Dr. Walter A. Conlan, III, a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation, established his Central Florida practice in 1996. In 2001, he began practicing wound care exclusively and in 2001 he became a Certified Wound Specialist.

As the CEO of Florida Wound Care Doctors, Central Florida's only medical practice that concentrates exclusively on wound care on a full-time basis. Dr. Conlan is inspired to help his patients overcome even the most severe types of wounds. His passion about patient care is rewarded when he can be an active participant in the wound healing process.

Dr. Conlan has a true commitment to the field of wound care by remaining an active participant in clinical trials. He also speaks at numerous events, such as the Wound Care Congress and the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care, in order to advance the medical community's knowledge and perception of wound care. He believes in a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to wound care …that begins with putting the patient first. His foremost desire is to improve the quality of life for patients.

Dr. Conlan received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his Medical Degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern. He is on staff at Orlando Regional Healthcare System, Osceola Regional and Florida Hospital Healthcare System, as well as several area Skilled Nursing Facilities. Dr. Conlan also donates his time to the Destiny Shepherd's Hope Health Center and the Mark Dogoli, MD, Medical Center. Both of these organizations serve the uninsured and underprivileged in our community.

Dr. Conlan is the Medical Director for the Osceola Regional Wound Care Center in Kissimmee, Florida. In September of 2010, he was appointed President %u2013 Elect for the American Academy of Wound Management (AAWM). He received his certification as a Certified Wound Specialist Physician (CWSP) in 2011 and is one of seventy physicians in the country to hold such a prestigious certification.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Conlan enjoys spending time with his family, hiking and sailing.
