Dr. Warren Allen Chow

My experience with Dr Warren Chow has been nothing but outstanding. He’s very personable, and has a wonderful bed side manner. Doesn’t rush in & out, listens to your questions & takes whatever time is necessary to answer all questions. I don’t understand these other reviewers. I have been going to Dr Chow for many follow up years. Can’t think of a negative thing to say about him.

This man has no bedside manners whatsoever. Our 20 year old daughter has stage 4 cancer. Chemotherapy for over a year did not work. So we came to City of Hope because we were told that they offer alternative treatments when chemo failed. This Dr. Chow offered nothing but chemo. He did not study our daughter's previous medical records (or he would have known that she had had 4 different kinds of chemo already). He literally shut us up and was very hostile toward us and our questions. When we tried to asked him about a well-known study performed in Europe (with a 90% rate of cure), he shouted that he never heard of such a study and showed us the door. Very bad. This experience with a doctor was the worst we have ever had, but in light of the big profit for pharmaceutical companies and their puppets (doctors who sell these dangerous drugs), it is quite unsurprising that this doctor acted the way he did, trying to cover up that there are alternative treatments on God's green earth!

Dr. Chow is straight forward and honest. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at a young age. He treats you thoroughly and stays up to date with the latest research for treatments. He is quick and cut and dry but don't expect a doctor that doesn't know you to be compassionate the same way your family is. He doesn't sit around and feel sorry for you, he treats you as a patient and works to make you better. If you have questions, go in with them written down and ask them - he will answer every question. My parents (who mainly tended to my care) were even able to email him and receive quick detailed responses.

Dr. Chow absolutely has the worst bedside manor of any Dr. I have ever met. He is cold hearted, has NO compassion and is just straight up MEAN! My fiance is 43 with no other underlying conditions, feels great but has a stage 4 Pleomorphic Sarcoma. Three months ago underwent a left arm disarticulation and Dr. Chow told him he has 4 months to live. Would not let him speak or ask any questions. After returning back to the room from writing the order for Chemo, My Fiance asked him if he could please write down the name of the Cancer he has and his response was "No, ask the nurse. I have already wasted too much time doing this for you." Thankfully the nurse had some compassion. I wish I could put into words how cold hearted and miserable this man is.

I've been associated with Dr. Chow for almost 15 years and have found him to be an excellent and professional physician. He has always been attentive to my needs and is very concerned for my well being. He has always given me the necessary time to go over my lab results etc. and makes sure that I understand.

Implied that my other doctor offered chemo because of financial gain... to put it in his words, when i asked dr. chow why my other specialist felt chemo was an appropriate option and dr. chow didn't, his response was "maybe he's in private practice." outrageous and untrue comment. the other sarcoma doctor and several other leading sarcoma doctors throughout the US absolutely feel that chemo is indeed an option that needs to be considered with the patient...the proble.... sarcoma is so rare that there are no true and extensive trials to prove the advantage.... i was at city of hope for sunovial cancer for 52 dys getting radiation. I saw dr. chow ONCE, only ONCE... at my initial intake appt. he never followed up with me on my care. he never had an exisit appt. with me to discuss my future...etc. I went back to the other sarcoma doctor and had chemo. This was the worst medical experience of my life. My opinion is that City of Hope… is now all about the money....all about politics. the only good experience i had was the radiologist team...they were remarkable. unfortunately, COH is so huge that you are subject to the care or lack of care by who ever is in charge of that dept. believe it or not...there was ONE...only ONE psychiatrist in the entire COH. and because of politics...your doctor can not prescribe anti depressants...only the psychiatrist can....and then there was a 2 month wait to see the shrink..... What? there are thousands of patients dealing with life threatenting illness and need help to deal with it...and then to be told you can not get an anti-depressant to deal with your fear and anxiety because you need to have an appt. with the shrink. outrageous.

He does not tend to the needs of his patient. My younger brother was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer (desmoplastic small round cell tumor), and Dr. Chow did not do everything he could to help my brother. He only did the necessary protocol and did not put in extra thought or research. He is very cold-hearted leaving all emotions to the side and did not make any effort to comfort my brother as he was going through a painful ordeal. If I did not believe in God I do not know what I would do because I am so angry with the way Dr. Chow treated my brother as a patient. My brother required special attention because of his rare cancer, he needed a specialist and Dr. Chow did not refer us to anyone else.
