Dr. Wayne Alani, MD

I had an appointment with the knee doctor on August 7 at 10:45 AM. While the receptionist, X-ray technician, and assistant were polite and professional, the doctor’s behavior was extremely disappointing and hurtful. The assistant who first saw me was respectful, took my blood pressure, and listened as I explained my history — even when I showed my childhood accident details from my phone. This made me think the clinic staff might be trained to treat patients kindly, or perhaps it was simply their good nature. However, when the doctor entered, the atmosphere completely changed. He extended his hand for a handshake, which I politely declined by placing my hand on my heart and saying “thank you.” He immediately began asking about past injections and medications I had received over a year ago. I did not recall the names, as I am not a medical professional, and it would have been simple for him to contact my previous doctor’s office to get this information. Instead, his tone was loud,… impatient, and made me feel as though I was in an interrogation, not a medical consultation. Without explaining my X-ray results or my knee condition, he suddenly walked out of the room. The most upsetting and unacceptable part came when I overheard him say to the front desk — loudly enough for me to hear — "This patient does not speak English". This was deeply insulting and discriminatory. Although my English may not be fluent, I can communicate effectively, and I have been treated with respect by many other doctors before. Afterward, another staff member told me they would order an injection for my knee and inform me by Friday or Monday. It is now August 14, 2025, exactly one week later, and I have received no call, no text, and no email. This only confirms the feeling that I was dismissed and not valued as a patient. From now on, I decided to write honest reviews, both positive and negative, using the doctors' names, so that others could be aware and avoid similar situations. As a physiognomy specialist, it's easy for me to read characters, but I still prefer to be kind. And in this case, my instincts were right: Those who deny their past cannot build their future....

I went to Dr. Alani for a complicated knee issue. He diagnosed me in 1 visit and fixed my knee within a week. He is very nice and pleasant i highly recommend him!

Dr Alani fixed my shoulder and did a fantastic job! It was a minimal invasive surgery to fix my rotator cuff. I cannot believe how quickly I recovered. The office staff was the best! They cared about me every visit!

Dr. Alani was the only orthopedist that didn't have over a month long waitlist for new patients, but turns out it's because he doesn't spend longer than 10 minutes per visit. Dr. Alani is eager to schedule elective surgeries (performing up to 10 from 7AM-12PM in a single day). Dr. Alani does not listen to the concerns of his patients and does not even check his charts before/during appointments. I had 3 procedures scheduled successively with Dr. Alani- during the last, a cortisone shot, Dr. Alani asked me in the pre-op room where he should put the shot (as if I should know better than him, when he was the one who recommended the shot and I am not a doctor). Dr. Alani checked my progress on shoulder surgery 2 months down the road by asking me to raise my arm, which I was able to do in the appointment I had 2 weeks after the surgery. That was the extent of the check in. Also though the surgery was minimally invasive, the doctor did a horrible job with the sutures leaving large scarring-… which the doctor never even looked at in my office follow up visits. The doctor routinely rushed me out of visits, trying to give succinct overly broad explanations to my questions which often involved the use of circling anatomical parts on a brochure. While this might be reassuring to some patients who have no medical knowledge at all, I was not impressed- and Dr. Alani's drawings never told me anything I didn't know. At the same time, after explaining and reiterating my high pain tolerance to Dr. Alani at least 3 times in successive appointments, he waited until after performing an elective procedure to ask me what I meant when I said that. In fact he asked, "does that mean I feel pain easily or I never feel pain"- 2 completely opposite interpretations which would have incredibly different consequences. This is evidence not only of a failure to listen and communicate effectively, but a complete lack of desire to understand my unique problems as a patient. All in all I think he's greedy and money hungry with no dedication to the healing profession. Also the appointment staff is incompetent. I would have to follow up at least 3 times to get anything scheduled. Also I had to space my calls out over a period of 2 weeks. The first call is always sent to voicemail. In one instance, my voicemail was not returned, and I called back 2 days later- at which point the staff member implored me to wait at least 24 hours before following up (apparently unable to count days and mad at me for asking the office to get back to me when I'm the one in pain). She was so angry that I was afraid that calling back too early would result in them ignoring my request. The process was usually- call once, leave a voicemail message, call back 3 days later, leave another voicemail message, receive callback a week later if lucky. Also, during my last procedure, I called the office the day after my procedure to request sending over a PT order immediately (which Dr. Alani assured me at the hospital that he would forget and it was entirely my responsibility to request the order from the office). I followed up the next week as I received no response, and I also asked my PT provider to contact the office directly- they also didn't receive a response. 3 days later I received a call from the office impatient to confirm that I had not died after the procedure, and they had no idea that I had already called in twice. Also, at that time they had still not sent over the PT order. Lastly, the office was always behind on billing.

Switched to a different orthopedic surgeon because of Dr. Alani's office manager Janet. She was extremely rude, uncooperative, and confrontational. I was trying to look for options not to have to go to the office for the sole purpose of making a payment. I asked Janet if I could pay over the phone or by mail. Janet immediately said no and further asked me "don't you go to the store?". With the global pandemic we are now facing, most doctors offices are working withe their patients to try limit office visits as much as possible. I also asked to speak with someone else to what she replied that she was the office manager. I asked to speak to the doctor himself, and she said mockingly "Dr. Alani is not going to get on the phone about a payment". I later called and spoke with a very nice receptionist called Jennifer who worked with me and asked Dr. Alani if I could mail in a check, and the doctor said yes. If you don't want to deal with this lady's nonsense, choose a different… office.

Dr Alani did a total knee replacement on me and the result was exceptional! I’m doing things I haven’t done in 30 years thanks to a great surgeon. He explained exactly what would happen and was very funny. Thanks doc for giving me my life back!

Dr Alani did a total knee replacement on me and I’m back to doing things I haven’t done in 30 years. He explained exactly what would happen and was extremely positive. He has a great personality and very easy to talk to!

I had a total hip done by Dr. Alani. He was very personable and has a great reputation! My surgery went great and now I'm pain free!
