Dr. Wayne William Bixenman, MD

Dismissive, insulting, and overall, unprofesional.

Extremely inappropriate and unprofessional with women. If you have to see him, I really recommend at least bringing someone with you for your own comfort and safety.

My complaint is specifically about Dr. Bixenman. My mother waited over 3 months for this appt, as he is one of only a few neuro-ophthalmologists in Arizona. I can’t be sure what rubbed him the wrong way, but he was completely rude and unprofessional. He was triggered by the fact that my mom was wearing a mask. He offered no introduction. He was rude and inpatient gathering information that my mom needed to look up. And when my mom said he was making her feel agitated, his response was “good”!!! How in the world do you get to be that old and that rude in the profession you’ve done for years? I don’t care what knowledge or degrees this man has attained in his lifetime, nobody should have to submit themselves to being belittled like that when they are just seeking medical attention for a condition that is new and scary. You failed today, Dr. Bixenman. I don’t know what kind of doctor you have been in the past, but if this is how you do business daily, it’s time to retire. You were… awful to a good person. Not recommended.

I didn’t care for this physician, a bit too quirky for me and he disagreed with everything my ophthalmologist who is in the same practice had told me. Was an hour late, then orders an MRI saying he thinks I might have a brain mass causing my blindness. Says he will call as soon as he gets results. Had the MRI over a week ago. He has never called me to discuss. The only reason I know it was negative is because I read the report online at the radiology site the day after it was done. Am canceling my next appointment, he obviously doesn’t care.

As a patient who is a woman, there has been a consistent lack of professionalism & bedside manner when it comes to this doctor. He comes highly rated for some reason, however he is downright inappropriate at times, & often is creepy or crass. This is not a one off incident, this is consistent behavior across several appointments and has been witnessed by others. He does not listen to his patients and is derisive of them, & also completely lacks self awareness with the comments he makes. Tucson is not so small of a town that there are not other specialists available.

I have been passions of Dr. Bixenman since 2000. He is the best kind and out open to any questions you may have. In case of emergincy, He will go out of his way to get you the same day. I just hope he is not going to retired soon. I will never find one like him.

Dr. Bixennan is the only doctor of his specialty in Tucson, so patients are often trapped into seeing him. He is a bright man but exceedingly arrogant and very inappropriate in his relationships with women. He is odd to say the least and often taunts women and "leans in on" them, getting as close as he can physically. If you have to see him and you are a woman I recommend taking a family member or friend with you. Young women are targets, especially because he thinks he can bully them and they may feel too embarrassed to complain.

I am a long time patient. Dr. Bixenman has treated several members of my family for serious eye problems and has taken excellent care of us.I highly recommend him!

Dr. Bixenman has a unique bedside manner. Many highly intelligent people can be a little quirky. My son, the patient, and I got a kick out of his humor. Professionally, I trust his opinion. The examination was very thorough and we left feeling everything was investigated that possibly could have been. Dr. Bixenman answered all of our questions and was very reassuring. I would recommend him to friends and family.

This guy is great. He knows his stuff. This doctor shines.
