Dr. Wendell John Courtney, MD

Dr. Courtney has been my GYN since 2010. I have NEVER had any issues. He has always been nice, professional, and helpful. He performed my surgery about 4 months ago, and it was the best decision ever!

I saw Dr Wendell Courtney today 12/19/24. I just moved up here from central Florida. I needed to see a gyno and his scheduler was nice enough to get me in soon. His nurse is very pleasant. I noticed that no one has written a review for 8 years, so I feel that I need to. The office and exam rooms are absolutely atrocious and are in need of proper cleanliness and sanitation, I stayed for the appointment because of the pain I was experiencing with the issue I was having. The doctor seemed nice although he did not prepare me or give me warning as to what he was about to do. He was looking for my uterus even though I had told him I had a complete hysterectomy and then surprise a rectal exam, had he told me he was about to do that I would have told him I just had a colonoscopy 4 months ago. I told him he was hurting me and he told me not to move. Both exams were extremely harsh and painful and not warranted. I was there for a cyst on my labia that was quite swollen and painful which I… explained to his nurse. He told me he couldn't find the lump, omgosh it surely is there. I called his office at 9:30 this evening and spoke to him, i told him that I am experiencing pain from the exam and he told me that I should look for another doctor. This is so strange, in 47 years of having these exams I have never had pain like this. I write this because I think the doctor might be slipping some in his older age and maybe should consider retirement. I realize he may have been a good doctor at one time but things do change with age. Independence should never trump good medical care and physical courtesy to the patient. I would not recommend anyone to see him, he wasn't the slightest bit concerned this evening for my well being. I plan on going to the ER to make sure everything is ok. I sure hope I didn't Puck up any unwatchable germs in that exam room, everything from the stirrup pads to the floor was disgustingly filthy.

Dr Courtney and his staff are amazing. He has delivered all 3 of my children and personally seen me through 3 extremely painful miscarriages. He doesn't sugar coat things and I appreciate that. I need an excellent, knowledgable Dr, not a new best friend. I have always felt I could trust and depend on his nurse, Vicki. They are a great team and I would recommend anyone who is looking for a Dr to give him a chance.

I had ovarian cancer and he caught it and arranged for all treatment. Saved my life.

I would recommend him to anyone. He is honest and direct with you. I have had to deal with a cancer diagnosis and he really helped me. I am cancer free. I am 69 yrs old.

I have been going to Dr. Courtney since about 2002, I had just moved to The Villages and was 56 years old and had suddenly started bleeding, I had no OB and called his office, they took me right in. I needed a hysterectomy, something my previous OB had neglected. He was fabulous, and a year later he did a bladder suspension. I go to him every year, and his office staff has always been courteous and professional as well as friendly. He does speak softly, but does not mumble and he spends plenty of time with you, as well as explains everything.

I would never go back to this guy again. He first sat me in his office and lectured me for 20 minutes about smoking. I'm not an idiot, I know smoking is not good for me. But as I tried to explain my progress on cutting back to about 5/day he offered no encouragement...just kept lecturing and telling me about people he knows who died. Maybe he thinks I don't have a life outside his office but I assure you I have better things to do than to be in an OBGYN office for over an hour and a half! I felt extremely uncomfortable during the PAP too. Very cold and uncaring. He never said a word. It was unsettling to say the least. After that he started up again on the smoking issue. Maybe he should quit his profession and become an advocate for smoking. It was most irritating. he had a very strange demeanor too.... very creepy man is all i can say!

To All Whom Are Truly Concerned, Please at all cost stay far away from Dr. Wendell J. Courtney and his entire staff as they are by far the most incompetent unprofessional s that I have ever had the great and unfortunate displeasure of dealing with and to close this, if you ever want to be unbelievably scared out of your skin waiting on your PAP or lab results to return than by all means do in fact use this Disgraceful Three Ring Circus, as the Doctors complete brainless staff will unbelievably leave a so-called very important message on your voicemail stating that you need to call them ASAP in regards to your follow-up appointment and not the Lab results, as those you need to make numerous phone calls and pull teeth to get. Hoping I helped many stay away from this Disgraceful Clown and his Pure Brainless inept Staff. Sincerely yours, AD

I have been seeing Dr. Courtney since 1997. He delivered all 3 of my children. All i can say is that he is AWESOME and his staff is great. With my first delivery back in 2000 i was very scared and was having a few complications i needed an emergency C Section., Dr Courtney completly explained everything in detail to me and eased my mind. my delivery went great and he was right there explaining everything to me. My other 2 deliveries went just as well. He has an amazing personality and is such a Great Dr. I do recommend Dr. Courtney to my family and friends for any OB or GYN visit needed. Now I need surgery and i wouldnt have ANYONE else do it, i trust him with my life.

I am 70 years old. i have been a patient for over 20 years. Dr. Courtney is the most compassionate DR. i know. he took me even when he didnt accept my insurance at no charge. THIS IS UNHEARD of. today he gave me the good news that i didnt have a prolapsed bladder as another GYN told me i did and is sending me for further tests for my bladder.
